More hours.

I was shocked to find out that I had 38 hours this week when for the past three weeks my employers had cut me down to 19 hours. I simply wrote them a short and sweet note mentioning that I had to have at least 25 hours a week in order to make my bills and asking them if there was any way they could help me. I got my schedule yesterday and I work every day Monday through Friday with 7.5 hours minimum per day. I work in a grocery store so the hours are up and down but I was very happy to see what I had this week. I just hope it sticks or I might have to get another job.
Has anybody else gained hours in what seems to be such a hard time for the economy?

That's good. Right now, not only are we, employees, the only ones affected but our employers as well. You should write them a thank you note for giving you what you asked for.

I know it affects them and that is why I wasn't demanding about the whole thing. I just simply asked if it was possible. They were very kind to give me what I asked for but I don't know if it is just for this week or the weeks to follow as well.

By not being demanding, they gave in. I think that is so much better than saying that it is your right or something. Good job!

Ya it happens. I wouldn't suggest writing a note...see them in person. It's alot easier to say 'no' to a note than to a persons face. But you just gotta hope that you are more valuable then others around you so they can't afford to cut your hours.

They aren't around often at the time I am and they are really great employers so writing them notes is really the only thing I can do. My co-workers love getting little notes from me too. One of them calls it her little love notes, even if it just says something about work. We have fun around there. They just recently gave me a raise so I know they like having me around. It was just such a nice feeling to see a full schedule.
