Some people rather beg for money instead of earn it

The other day I parked my car in the parking lot, to meet my friend in the restaurant. There was a man came over ask me for a couple of spare change, so he has money for some food. I don't mind giving him a dollar or two. He then, ask the next person for some changes. He seems perfectly healthy to me. Why he couldn't get a job himself? even it is a menial job, like housekeeping, or McDonald.
Sometimes, I don't understand why people couldn't really earn the money themselves, rather, they want to beg for it.

We have several beggers in our area even though there is a city wide ordinance against it. They stand on the corner and ask for money by using cardboard signs. When they get enough they move onto another corner. Some of them have vehicles, one couple has a camper unit on their truck, and others walk and carry their bag with them. Around here there are tons of jobs so it would seem that they could get a real job without much problem. But they probably make more money in a shorter period of time then those who work all day the real way.
In addition, the deaf community in this area hand out little pieces of paper with pins attached and ask for three dollars for each pin. They do it at restaurants and parking lots and such. First of all, it is impossible to prove that they are deaf which makes me a little cautious. I tried to sign with one of them (I know Signed English which is usually fairly easy to communicate with some success to any deaf person) and they just looked at me confused and walked away. Second, I know several deaf people with real jobs in another state. They work in a wide range of different locations. Heck, my deaf friend from high school works in a restaurant! They have to work hard to over come their deafness, but they are able bodied people who could be hard workers. I don't understand why they don't. Especially in a place begging for workers (I would understand in a city or state that lacked jobs). Okay, there was my little rant for the day.

I have been thinking of this problem, for I can see such people in a lot of places. Some of them are health, some of them are disabled, some of them are children, some of them are old people and some of them are still at meridian of their life. I hear that some of them are controlled by one organization. If they could not get the appionted money back, they or their children would be punished, like they would be given no food or taco. There is some like the Oliver Twist in Charles Dickens. No matter what, I think some of them do not do their will.

We have individual differences and this is another case of it. There are person who want to work for a living and there are person who want to beg for a living. They have both options on what to do with their lives, it is just some of them are not up to challenges life offers.
If other can work why can't they? What is wrong with working? And how do they find begging a nice thing to do? Well, for sure they have reasons and I guess those reasons are not acceptable for people who have seen the other side and that is working for a living

Sometimes people are physically unable to work, obviously they are mostly supported by govement funds, but in many cases today the money they are given is just not enough and so many resort to begging to try and stay alive.
In other cases people find themselves being rejected time and time again, even from places like McDonalds. And so once again they are left with very few options. If someone has been made homeless then without a fixed address you cannot even begin applying for work, and without money how could you ever get a job? Its a horrible vicious cycle, a trap set up by employers that catches societies less fortunates and drags them into the mud.

I have agree with you.I meet some situaions like you.In my opnion, they dont want to find a job to earning have so many reasons.
1.begging mony dont need to pay the taxiation, assurance, some fees like these.
2.they are lazy, they dont want to take any resposibilities,if you get job you must finish you tasks.
3.maybe they dont have enough skills to find a good job.
and so on---
In the begining ,i have trust the person and give him money, but now ,when i meet the person like that i will walk quickly, and refuse to give any money.
i think there must be some people lost their poket, lost their money, who need really help.but some bad person hurt our hearts and cut down the way to help the persons who really need helps.

There are people out there that would rather ask for money than earn them. There are even those people that look healthier than the ones they beg from. I guess it's already in their system. Maybe it's how they were raised or their outlook in life. It's just sad.

Maybe if you spent some time helping out at a homeless shelter, you could get to know some homeless people and you could ASK them why they don't have jobs.
Maybe it's not as simple as you think.

It seems a little presumtious to walk up to random people and ask for money! You don't know what sort of financial situation that person is in as well. There are so many food pantries and such that will give food to a person in need. When I worked at McDonalds there was a homeless man that would come in everymorning and sit and read the paper. We gave him free coffee because he brought in his own cup and would just sit and and read his paper or talk with other customers quietly. Sometimes people would buy him a burger or give him some change. We all loved him and felt badly that he didn't have a home. He worked when he could get a job he just didn't get enough money for long enough to justify getting a place of his own. And a lot of low income houses won't give a home to a single man that can work. So, yes. In his situation I'd help someone out like that. But, those people that have the nerve to walk up to me and ask me for money? That's just stupid!

Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, don't think you can lump everyone together. It could be the person is homeles, and many people that don't have a place to live can't get a job, and can't even get a welfare check. Sure, I'll grant you there are some professional beggers out there, but we have become such a people to assume everyone is lazy. I'm guilty as the next person.. I will not believe people sometimes because I feel they might be lying if it will take the last dollar I have. If I had money to spare I might give a little, but if it means me going without I most likely won't. One time me and my mom were out and we were getting gas. A man came up to us to ask for a few dollars for gas that their gas had run out and they had to get to Augusta. My mom didn't have money after getting her own gas, and she told him so... but she didn't quite believe him either.

Sometimes I feel this way to but some people are unable to find a job in today's poor economy. Begging in my opinion would hurt my pride and it would be difficult to bring myself to do it but if I had to, by all means, I would. Albeit, I would be much more willing to get a job then to beg, however in todays economy, it is quite difficult to fine a job.

That is the problem with some. They want to have money but they do not want to work for it. Other people are working overtime and working many jobs just to support their family, how come others can't do the same when they are perfectly healthy and capable, right? I think people like that should not be given anything when they ask for money. I remember a time when someone knocked at out door asking for money. She looks decent, well-combed, and she even had an umbrella with her. Then of course I declined. Imagine, she asked, can I just have that banana over there? It's not that I'm heartless or selfish, but come on, she was kinda making it her job to beg.

i think it comes to one word... "LAZINESS"... and i hate lazy people... i will never give my money to a young and healthy beggar who i think can still capable enough to earn money by themselves... i will only give money to beggars who are old and disabled who i think that they really are not capable to earn money by themselves... the simple policy is, i don't want to help people who don't want to help themselves... take care and have a nice day...

Hello Clorissa, well i see a lot of people just like that and maybe they wanted to do begging than to work because it is much easier to do i guess than just to work. Imagine you gave him a dollar, while most of us here, tend to do all posting just to earn less than a dollar
Anyway, because of recession, people with bachelors degree are sad to say not working because of what they finished doing. They end up working on McDonalds or other burger joint.
I guess this is the ugly thing about recession. Just to land for a job, we will have to compete with more than 100 applicants these days. Happy Mylotting!

I think its sad that people have to beg for money just to survie. I think that you cant classify all beggers into the same catagory. Some just do it because they want to, some do it because they can't find a job and this is the only way they can think of to make money, some are homeless and yes some do it because they are lazy and are capiable of finding and getting a job but they choose to beg.
When I see that going on it just makes me very thankfull that I have a job and a roof over my head and food in my frigde.

In the UK we get this a lot, altho some cities will take legal action against them, altho they can quite easily get benefits, which are just too easy to get in England.

I agree to your fact and came over with lot of those people but some times end of giving some dollors and repent why i did that because i genuinely believe that if we are donating them some dollors, its like motivating them to beg. Yah, its good to be a helping hand but only to those who are handicapped or old or in a position that they are unable to work for earning.

If these people are begging they must be homeless! :o
So maybe they feel they can't get a job because they don't look clean and stuff to give a good impression to get a job =/
I watched a prgram on this.
They were all homeless because they all lost their job and got in to debt!
