Do you feel safe flying in the friendly skies?

With all the reports on air craft malfunctions or plane crashes would you still feel safe flying? My father is a pilot and when I was younger I asked him about this...and he said the only reason why you hear about all the crashes is because there are actually fewer planes than cars...in other words you are more likely to crash in a car than a plane. We just do not hear about every car crash. So your thoughts on this?

I think that is why I love to ride the coasters. Thanks for responding.

Sure, flying is safer than driving.

I'm one of those paranoid, nervous fliers. Therefore, I'll probably never feel safe flying.

I heard exactly the same explanation. It is right actually car crashes are much higher in percentage compared with plane crashes. But if not for long distance, if not on urgent business needs, I would prefer a train trip for short travels. That might be relatively safer and I can enjoy the views along the way.
