some of you mylotters may have heard this but i am not suprised that it hasnt hit the mylot pages yet.
it seems the show 'red eye' (which is aired on fox @ 3:00 am) and its host, Greg Gutfeld seemed to have a lot of 'guts' when he and a bunch of jerks started trash talking about Canadian troops and our mission in Afgahnistan. Hey, we as canadians like a good joke just as much as the next guy, but this was just too much over the top!
Here is the link and you can judge for yourself

Cher-
We hear it all the time in America as the others have already said. My husband is a disabled Vet and has people make comments about him when we've been out shopping, etc. Some people have no respect! The comment I've made when dealing with such people is to say "My husband risked his life so you'd have the freedom to say that". Not sure it works, but it makes me feel better.

Please make sure your husband knows that people he has never met do truly appreciate the sacrifices he made in the service of our country. I am so sorry some people just don't "get it" and that they are rude and inconsiderate to your husband and other vets like him. Please send him thanks on behalf of me and my family for his service.

How awful to sit in a safe place at home and say such things about brave soldiers fighting for their liberty.fighting terrorism and keeping the world safe,I expect they would like a breather as well if they faced danger everyday for years, selfish a$$$ holes.Thats all I can say on the matter.xxxx

I think it is absolutely disgraceful and hats Off To You! for bringing it up here at MyLot.
It has been all over our news here is Canada.
"Guts" is right! down right rude.
I think that guy ought to be ambushed!
My first thought was, woa, that guy might want to be watching his back, for a long while.
How could anyone say something like that? Never mind on a television broadcast!
What goes around comes around and he will get his own.
I think that if anyone said something like that about the American troops, he wouldn't be around for very long.
In my opinion, he is now a marked man and he did it to himself.
What a goof ball!

I agree. Shame on those who make a mockery at anyone serving in the war regardless of which country they reside from.
I understand that this show pokes fun at a number of different topics.
However, even as hew was claiming it was a joke, after there was an uprise, it sure didn't seem as genuine as it did when he was saying those horrible things about our Canadian troops. Thank you for your comments.

Last time I checked, the Canadian troops and American troops were fighting on the same side. NOBODY should be talking smack about either of them!

No, they wouldn't have fired him had he said it about American troops. Unfortunately, in the American media, troops of any nationality are fair game. The media delights in undermining anything to do with the war. It annoys me greatly. I say we put people like this over where the troops are. That would be worse than getting fired.

Hi cher! I had not heard about this before! And I am so sorry
to hear about it now! I think that the uttering of a moron
like this guy Greg Gutfield should be taken as what it is!
The utterings of someone that has no brains, no sympathy,
no remorse, no true understandings of what it is like to be
a soldier and certainly not understanding of what it is like
to have lost someone to war! I feel that he should have his
show cancelled and any other punishment that the Canadian
Government feels would fit this most discusting lack of
being a human being that they could think of heaping upon
this complete and utterly disrespectful piece of garbage. You
can be sure that the US would never let him get away with
something as callous as this!

thats just not right! i am in the us army, and though i have not been deployed yet, i know literally hundreds of soldiers that have. the canadians are valuable to us. we in america dont hear too much about them, but there they are, helping out in what the us started in the first place, and for that i respect and admire the canadian military. this is no laughing matter. not everyone has to like the military. that would be communistic. but at least show some respect for those who answered the call to fight overseas. no, i do not believe that if they had said these things about american troops he would have been fired, just because americans do that enough already! its part of the constitution, a freedom of speech! anyway, ill quit ranting. thank you for bringing this to my attention

Hi cher - Thankfully most nights I'm not up at that time and don't watch the show. This is the first I'm hearing about it. However I really don't care in what context they were made. I believe it is wrong to belittle troops no matter what country they come from. These men and women who choose to defend us from the forces of evil in this world deserve our thanks and respect and should be treated accordingly. I think Canada might have gotten a bad rap because it was a favorite for the draft dodgers when the US had a draft. But times have changed and the forces are voluntary. It's time to rethink our response and certainly Mr. Gutfeld should think about his.

I have seen that show a few times, but I am usually asleep when it airs. However, if he is trashing our Canadian allies who have served so valiantly alongside us overseas, I will never watch his show again.
Dear Canadian Mylotters:
I am ashamed that one of our citizens has publicly spoken ill of you, I apologize for that guy's idiocy. Thank you for being such great neighbors and thank you from the bottom of my heart to your soldiers who have served and are serving alongside our own troops around the world.
