No!I am not talking about the story books you read. But with other books, say philosophy or religious,do you acquire extra knowledge or gain support for your already existing knowledge? Is there any chance for you to learn something new, apart from your basic thoughts? Please explain.Cheers!

Yes! Truly! Reading always increases knowledge of a person in various ways! Even story books allows person to increase his vocabulary at least along with any morals out of them. Religious books allows develop insights to various religious aspects, support their practices of like praying, understanding various things in world. Other scientific books allows person to question how everything works in world. Reading books, news papers, anything that he likes always helps him develop his skills and knowledge!

I think that any reading material can be learned from, but as your question asks, I will not comment on story books. I think that the best way to learn is through reading, although movies can portray a good knowledge of things as well. Of course expanding your knowledge from more literature is possible as well as expanding the though process by reading more and thus thinking more and what you have learned. Learning is complex but can be very much fun, it all depends on the person as to how they learn, but one basic thing remains, you can never learn enough! Have a wonderful day mylotting!

Of course, one can learn from books. It helps if the subject of the book is something that holds your interest, but you can learn from any book if you apply yourself. Don't knock the story books. You can even learn from them, if you are reading at or slightly above your level of comprehension, you may learn new words or gain insight into another culture.

Definitely, Yes! Knowledge refers to understanding of the concepts, principles, and nature of things that we want to learn. And when a person reads (books, e.g.), he understands better, became more knowledgeable of the underlying principles and concepts, and therefore, he gains extra knowledge by reading. Happy myLotting! :)

of course, why dont? Any book also has knowledge. Even if you read philosophy or religious book, you also gain your knowledge. You can not use immediately. In the long term or in your life, anything can happen. At this time, you will find useful its.

I've actually learned quite a bit from the fiction books I've read, because of the research the authors did while putting the story together. :)

I have always found that fiction books also provide a great deal of knowledge, as most of the best written books will have been well researched before being written. Therefore you can find out a lot about history, geography and many other subjects from a good fiction novel.

don't read often those! I only read religious books in the month of August and September only when we use to have a period of celebration, religious celebrations you know. That period demands me to be a religious one and read holy books to gain knowledge. Well, in my childhood I was able to learn good things but now, I don't think I learn anything from them!

Hi, The knowledge that we can get from reading are limitless. I think we will learn something new as we read something new. We will look things are more perspectives as we gain more knowledge. We can never read every book about philosophy or religions in the market.

"Is there any chance for us to learn"?! Well, srganesh i tell you this: I do believe we are in this world for a purpose. Each one of us has a purpose to be here at this moment. I can't say what that purpose might be and people who say they do are crazy (yes, that includes all religions, "seitas" and others...)but one thing is for sure. Knowledge is the key! The most you know the best person you will be. It is normal for the human being to have his skills developed and that development comes from necessity. When you learn something, you want (or you should) to learn even more and that desire will take you to the next step. In a 10 step leather if you reach the 5th you are already ok... Books such as good teachers will help you do that. Many things you can learn from books when you don't have anyone who can teach you. Many things you can learn by yourself. And more: sometimes a thing that you thought you already knew sudenly starts to make sense when you are reading the same thing but in a different book, written in a different way, by a different person. Read a lot my friend. Read as much as you can. But please choose good books...(how to know wich one are the good ones? well, that's another story...it could be a new topic.) Knowledge is power - Francis Bacon.

I wonder why you exclude story books? A lot of the best lessons in life comes from story book. When I was young, I loved to read "the three little pigs" and the lesson learnt is that, do not compromise on the quality of your house (or work). "Little Red Riding Hood" is a lesson on trusting people. Some adults never learnt the lesson, and got themselves killed. Some became victims of rapists and serial killers. A lot of times, when we read, we didn't appreciate the words, the information and things we learnt from the book. The knowledge only becomes valuable when we need to use it.

Yes, I love reading. I like to read a book on something I haven't known very much. I read a book on Pilates, and I know something basic concept of pilates now. Or I read books about people's mind, and I got a lot of information why I would feel depressed somethime and how to treat this feelings.

Books reflect a person's personality. When you read a book, more so spritual or philosophical, you are unconsciously absorbing a lot. When you read such books, it sets your mind thnking and you wonder where you have gone right or wrong. Knowledge in any form is always helpful. It makes you a better person.

of course i learn a lot. if the topic really interests us, then the literature that we read whether supportive or derogatory to our beliefs would surely add up to our knowledge and would shape some of our opinions and beliefs on certain topics. reading is the best.

I would have to say that you get extra knowledge from every kind of book you read. Because when you read your mind is actually processing instead of just sitting in front of a television and just letting something happen in front of your eyes you are reading and taking in all the information that is written.
