For here is Nova Scotia it has to be the Lobster. It is a well known food item that is looked at as representing our community. I live on the Northern Atlantic Ocean in a fishing community. Crabs and lobsters are a very common meal here.
But only second to the lobster would be my favorite Nova Scotian Blueberries. Being a vegetarian I have no use for the lobster but I go berry picking every summer and store them for the year. It is lovely to have jams, pie, pancakes, muffins, and more all year long from wild blueberries I can pick in the fields out back. :)

In season lobster is pretty cheap here. In the offseason though it can go up. But if you know someone you can likely get it next to free. LOL

From a society that boasts of so many international cuisine, there really isn't one dish that can be associated to where I live.
Till today, not many people can agree on ONE dish that is representative of my country.
But when you talk Singapore, you will get a whole list of dishes.
From fried rice to chicken rice to bak Kut Teh... the list is just, well, endless!

Hello youless. One of the most famous food that people love to eat is JiaXing Zhongzi (glutinous rice). It has different ingredients inside, such as pork, nuts, etc. I love to eat zhongzi very much, especially Jia Xing Zhongzi. Besides it is not cheap at all.

i can say the ADOBO represents the philippines very much.. it's like meat (whether chicken, pork or even beef) simmerd in soy sauce with a little bit of vinegar and other spices.. i uploaded a picture here in mylot tagged adobo but i have no idea how to paste it here in my post or probably if im even allowed to upload it.. lol.. but yeah, you should definitely try adobo once you come here in the philippines or if you happen to pass by a filipino restaurant there in your place (except jollibee hehe)

Hello from the Philippines
One of my favorite foods which also represents my country is Lechong Baboy or Roasted Pig on a Pit. This is popular during town festivals and special occassions. I like its crispy golden brown skin especially served with liver sauce. I seldom eat it as its not really healthy and quite expensive as well.

youless,
Singapore is indeed a food paradise and this is because we are a small close knitted multi racial country. So, our people are never short of choices and visitors will never miss what they like back home. It is like having the best of everything.
Nevertheless, being a Chinese majority here, it is only natural that we have Chinese food to represent our country. IMO, Singapore is well known for Hainanese Chicken Rice, so do remember to try it if you are here visiting.
For the Muslims, we have the "Satay" which are skewered meats mainly beef, mutton and chicken with grounded peanuts and chilli sauce as dips and side dishes of steamed rice puddings, fresh cucumbers, onions and pineapples.
There are other favorites available here for everyone and of every country. So, let me encourage all you here to come a visit if you have a chance. Don't be surprise to find that our Peking Duck could be authentic as yours back home.
Cheers.
