You know, I hadn't even thought about including those items either. The times have really changed. We didn't even have the internet when I was going to school. Mom and I often talk about what would have happened if I had continued my studying with computers....you know back when there was only Apple, IBM, and Tandy.
I know of a few high schools that are currently offering certifications in Microsoft (C++, Html, Webpage design, Outlook, Excel, etc) and their regular high school diploma. These kids are going to graduate and totally be job ready with today's market. They may have a hard time getting a job...but can you imagine having that kind of certification when you graduated high school?

I love science. I might be biased because I was a high school science teacher. But there is such an integration between science and every other subject. The general field of science includes math, english, reading, geography, writing, history, computers, and even foreign language (Latin/Greek).
Since I am a nerd I can't just pick one category. I love reading as well. When I was a kid back in the 70s, I literally read all the books in the kids/teens section that the librarian let me check out books from the adult section. See back in the days the librarians monitored where kids went in the library and really interacted with the visitors, suggesting books within their interests to read.
History has always held a spot in my heart. When I was a kid I was obsessed with reading up on the strong leaders of our world. I learned so much about Theodore Roosevelt (my favorite president), Hitler (a reknowned public speaker, over looking the fact of the whole Holocaust thing), and Jackie Onassis.
my1314, you never really did say why you liked your particular subjects. What got you into history and geography?

Sorry for my delayed reply! I like History because it can tell me the process of mankind historical development. From when and how the human came into being to the whole course of human events. I like to know the connections between various events and there must be some roots and causes underlying each event. They are all interesting to study and explore. There are so many grand events happened in the long history of mankind like British Bourgeois Revolution, Industry Revolution, American War of independence, the first World War, Financial Crisis in 1929,the second World War, etc. I also like to read the stories of those great historical figures like President Washington, the first president in USA; Albert Einstein, a great scientist; and Premier Zhou and Chairman Mao from China. I am fascinated by their glamour of personality. I like Geography just because I have a dream which is hard to realize for me. It might seem a little bit ridiculous. I desire chances to travel abroad. But currently I have got enough money to afford it. I have to word hard. I try to study much geographical knowledge about most countries and the vast oceans. I'm keen on remembering the names of countries and where they are located. I am also interested in the vast mysterious oceans from where life evolved. I often take a look at the world map in our dining-room after supper. I may travel to any places in my mind. It's a great comfort for me who have no chance to travel abroad at present. I will stick to my dream and I am confident it will come true one day!

My favorite class are the ones where you can get hands on learning from. Right now, that is my computer hardware class. I love to be able to take a computer apart and lean about the different parts and how to put them all back together again. Just seeing how all the parts fit together fastenates me :)

Hi,I am also interested in computer hardware and software.I tried many softwares on my computer and they are interesting to study and explore. But I know less about hardware because I haven't attended any hardward class where we can take apart all the computer components and put them back together. Good luck!
