Since my separation from my husband I have been staying with my daughter and her family. She gets up early to see the kids off to school and then goes back to bed. She finally gets up around ten and immediately sits down and gets on her laptop. She is on it from the time she gets up till the time she goes to bed. She also has the tv on but the only things she watches are reruns of things like Las Vegas, 7th heaven, wife swap or food challenges on the food network. She never watches current network programing or the news. To think they have all the sattelite channels and this is all she has to do? Maybe its just me. I do appreciate all they are doing for me, but I am getting bored with nothing to do except watch what I can on my pc. Sigh. What do you like to watch?

How is your relationship with her? My first thought is, can't you watch some of "your" shows while she's online? I was going to suggest you go out and take a walk sometimes, but I saw in an earlier post up above, that you already do that.
Do you read?
As for what your daughter does all day...You mentioned somewhere above that she spends time chatting. I know firsthand how addictive that can be. It's not very healthy, but you pointed that out would probably make her resent you. She needs to figure that out for herself.
Another poster admitted that your daugther sounds a lot like her. I've been through that too.
She must do at LEAST some housekeeping doesn't she? The dishes do get done eventually don't they? Does she do laundry?
I'm guilty of leaving dishes out overnight sometimes too. I've thought about starting discussion on that. I've heard many people say that they could NEVER do that, and I just wonder if theres at least a few out there in the world that are more like me.
I'm not a COMPLETE slob, I promise you! I just have my moments when the housekeeping just doesn't seem like all that urgent.
How long til you get that car that your son is supposed to bring you??

LOL! We do have a nice relationship, I just have issues with her lack of interest in getting things done. But I guess that is just me. She lets laundry pile up big before she does anything and then it takes forever to finish. Of course she gets involved in her laptop activities and forgets about it so there is always a load sitting in both washer and dryer. The dust is so thick, no wonder she sneezes. I've taken to making sure that dishes and food are not left out overnight. I had to laugh to myself when she told her husband that she ironed 10 slacks for him. She did three and it took 4 hours cause she would stop in between to do her computer stuff and watch her shows. And I do love to read so I have that. Right now I am reading Angels and Demons which is the prequel to the Da Vinci Code. I am no great house keeper either but I do have my moments. Hopefully I should have a car next month, so I can get out and explore. Thanks for your thoughts

That's her way of life, better keep your thoughts to yourself. . . I don't watch TV much, I just watch the news and some reality show. I can even skip watching the news on TV becuase I can read in the internet.

You are so right, so that is what I do. I try to catch "my" shows on my pc. I just wish I could figure out why the ABC "full episode launcher" stops at 30% and won't go any farther. I would like to check up on "General Hospital" and a couple of others. Oh well, thanks for your response.

Hmm I'm not going to say anything bad about your daughter because she sounds a little like me, lol.
When I go to the US to visit my parents (I live overseas) I usually stay for at least 2 months, maybe more. To be honest I don't do a whole lot in the day because I am home with no car. I spend time watching TV, or making money online. I also prepare my meals and do the dishes and then have dinner ready for my parents.
When they get home I go for a walk with my mom. Then we will go shopping, usually I go to find things to sell on Ebay. Or I will go visit my friends.
But during the day I am guilty of sleeping in and lounging.

She is kind of the same way but she has three kids. I would have figured that she would at least keep a clean house especially since they live in a brand new house which they bought about 18 months ago. Unfortunately there is dust everywhere very thick and the bathrooms are dirty as well as the kitchen. I don't know about you but I don't leave food on the stove overnight or dishes in the sink overnight. I'm not a really good housekeeper but I can't stand food left like that. Most of the time she spends the greater part of her day chatting or playing games on her laptop. I can't sit still that long. LOL!

I have a few neighbors like that, get up to ge their kids/husbands up and out and then they go back to sleep until anywhere between 10 and noon. From there they either sit around and watch tv or sit around on the phone or computer. I would go GRAZY! I am usually doing something, regardless of what it is. It drives me nuts to be around them when they are doing nothing. I get bored very easliy. Most of the time they dont cook or clean while at home and then they complain because their husbands or whoever is upset with them for doing nothing. ...WELL DUH! :)
Anyways onto the question at hand...i dont normally watch too much tv but I do like House and CSI Miami and someties reality shows depending on my mood. Usually the tv is on in the house just to have some background noise from the washer/dryer :)
Well enjoy!!!!

I know how you feel. I can't sit still during the day. I like to do my housework or errands first thing. I do like programs like CSI,NCIS, House, and the Mentalist. I just will have to get used to this lack or what I would call "real" programing. Onward and upward. Thanks
