Some of you may know but my parents live about 300 miles away from me so any time they get to visit it is exciting, not only for me but for my children. They love it when Grandma and Grandpa are visiting. Well, my dad was supposed to come up tomorrow but we are due to get some snow tomorrow so he came up tonight instead. He got here a couple hours ago and the kids have been so excited to have him here.
My dad is planning on taking my 2 year old son back home with him to stay with him and my mother until Easter then myself and my daughter are going to go visit them and pick him up.
Do your children ever get excited when Grandma and Grandpa are coming to visit?

My 2 year old get's so excited that she'll sometimes cry when she see's her Memere (my mom). She only gets to see her once or twice a year. She gets really excited to see her Nana (his mom) too, she's only met her 3 times. She gets to see her Pappy (his dad) all the time but she love's to see him too.

None of the grandparents live near us. So yes when my mom comes to visit my kids get really excited. They aren't really close to my husband's parents so they aren't as excited to see them. But it is nice to have family around for a day or two.

WHen my kids were little, we lived about 10 minutes away from my mom and an hour or so away from my Dad. They knew that when we went to visit they'd also see their cousins - who we lived about 15 minutes away from. But they still enjoyed it and looked forward to it.
I'm glad you're having a great time!

Oh my goodness, my step daughter gets so excited when grandma and grandpa come out for dinner or if we go into town by then but for that last year my relationship has been extremely stressful and toxic. I live about ten minutes outside of the town they live in and I didn't go to Christmas because of the tension. The said they would bring my step-daughters gifts out here because like I said it's ony 5 or 10 minutes away, a very short drive. They never called or ask if we wanted to come there for her gifts or if they could stop out at our house. I was appalled. I have one brother who is four years younger than me and is in trouble all the time, he had a child out of wedloc, which I'm not putting him down. His sons mother is very nice, but my parents take my brothers kid every other weekend even if my 35 year old brother isn't there and there have been several time when my parents thought he was on the road and he was in the town next to Kiel getting drunk. So my parents drop everything for my nephew who I love with all my heart, but they have been with my stepdaughter since she was only 4 or 5 months old and don't even treat her like a grandchild. They don't even send her a birthday card on the twenty-third of Dec.
So what I'm saying is she gets so excited to see them and they always let her down and put my brothers boy first which I don't think is fair, she was around before my brother child for 3 years and they did stuff with her all the time and now it's all fallen by the wayside. The have parties for Bryce but can't drive 5 miles out here to have dinner when they have him so him and Kristyn can play. It sounds like your parents make extremely wonderful and caring grandparents to your kids. I envy you for that, treasure those moments. D~

Hi singlemommy, I can see why everyone would be excited, it's always a big thing when grandparents come to visit, and more especially when you don't get to see them very often. Your two year old son may enjoy spending some time with grandma and grandpa, but I bet he will be more excited to see his mommy at Easter. Blessings.

When my kids were little they sure did! And when we were going to visit....they were even worse. One time I told my kids that we were going to grandpa and grandmas in the morning.....well at 3 a.m. they were standing next to my bed all ready to hit the road! So I finally after a few times like this, I had to pack their bags..put them in the trunk and not tell them we were going until we were actually in the car!

My children did get excited a bit but we lived nearly 2,000 from any of our parents. My ex didn't want to live close to anyone's family so my sons didn't know their grandparents very well. They would spend a week of the summer with them when they were older and that was nice but I missed them so much! I'm glad they got to see them at least once a year. Your children are blessed to have family living so close!

Hi Singlemommy! I should say you are very fortunate to have parents who area affectionate of their grandchildren. Sadly for me, my relationship with my parents is not a nice one. My children know them but are not attached nor have any affectionate feelings for them. In fact they feel uneasy most especially with their grandfather. I wish my kids had that relationship with my parents.

I am lucky all my family is here with me in the city so I can see them anytime that I want to. However, I am such a homebody, I do not go anywhere and I do not do anything, since I am disabled though so I appreciate when I get to see them.

What a wonderful thing to look forward to. I used to love getting to see my grandparents when I was younger. My sister and I thought it was like going on vacation. They lived about 2 and a half hours away from us. So every visit was very special.

Well it sounds like your going to have a nice visit, its always good to see family especially if they don't live close to you. I don't have any children, so I don't know what thats like. Last week, my mother, my sister, and two nephews and I went and visited my brother and his family, they live about 300 miles away, I thought that was fun, we got to spend the night with them and we had a good time visiting, I got to spend some time with a nephew and niece I don't get to see too often.

Hi singlemommy,
How so very exciting for your kids and you, it must be lovely to see your Dad, I don't have any children and both my parents have passed but it is nice when I see my sister and my niece and nephew. Enjoy yourself. Hugs.
