My friend , who lived through the depression, told me, that she remembers , that they ate pancakes all the time because that is what they had. She described all the things that she remembered and I wondered if you have any stories? Do you think that this will happen to us again. It is common for rice and starch's , the cheapest foods to become the diets.

I think people will eat bigger portions of starches to fill themselves up and also grow more fruit and veggies.

My grandfather told me the partial story of his childhood only once as he still is sadden by it today. During the depression, he lived in Illinois, my grandfather was one of the elder children out of about six. He would be constantly sent back and forth to an orphanage because the family could not support all the children. I'm not sure if he was the only one that had to be sent from his family, but the way he was talking about it it seemed he was. It was hard on hime to be away from his family days, weeks or months at a time just because your family couldn't help you. I'm not even sure if the orphange was nice or not, but here is one story. As for it happening again, I'm not sure. I believe it might because I was reading somewhere that a depression has happened over thirty or so years for awhile and that we are past due, so maybe this is the time. Scary! I wouldn't even know how to prepare for it.
