Do you stay home more and find things to do locally or do you still go places and shop etc? I have cut back on spending and try to conserve energy more etc. I am also getting lots of stuff together to have a yard sale if it ever stops snowing! I would like to know your thoughts and get some idea of how you are coping with this recession.

Like you, i need to cut back some expenses so i just choose to stay mostly at home this recent times. Besides i am also working at home online so i am really prefer to just stay at home. However when i really need a break, i go out once in a while just to treat myself in a beach where i can relax, out of the busy city and pollution or just treat my self to eat outside and meet my friends. But-well i rarely do that nowadays. Sometimes i feel that i have lost my social life outside because i'm always at home doing work online. I think this coming month i'm gonna have a break, its summer here and i maybe go out with friends on the beach at least just for a good break. Happy posting!

During all this my husband has been laid off so i have definatly cut back. I used to go shopping at the mall once a week & now i go maybe once a month if that. I really dont need anything i just like to shop. Also i used to go out on the weekends & now i go out every other weekend if that. i have saved alot of money just cutting back on a few little things. Like going to lunch with any of my friends; i did that 2 or 3 times a week. Now if i even go once that's my limit. It has really helped us stay on top of things.

i didn't realize how much money i used to spend. if i wanted something, i went and bought it. now i weigh want against need. i'm doing well i think. my downfall is clothes and shoes. i haven't bought either one for a while now.

I think I am different to the norm, the recession doesnt really effact me to a certain point, only thing am cheesed off with is my savings are worth nothing now. I havent changed my lifestyle at all to be fair, but I have always tried my best to conserve energy and to be greener. I do have a gas guzzler my little baby car, but I also have another car which is converted to LPG to off set my carbon. Only thing I have cut back on is holidays we usually have 2/3 a year but this year we are only having the 1.

I saw a tv show and they were saying that we should all begin living as if the recession has gotten us or our partner so it's not such a culture shock when it happens. i'm trying to cut back on things and it's hard to do.
