Well it won't work unless you swallow the water at the exact time you are about to hiccup and as the water goes down your throat it stops the hiccup. I promise it works. Lisa always makes me laugh till i start hiccuping. My hiccups aren't normal they are very strange sounding and embarrassing and painful. So i quickly swallow water over and over again till it stops and it works.

Nope, it forces hiccup down. And if you can't tell when you are about to hiccup, just swallow water continuously for however many secs there are between hiccups

I heard a good one to stop hiccups the other day although this was when a child had it. The Mother said she would give the child 1p for each hiccup after 3 the child is concentrating so hard wanting the money that they go. Would it work on an adult I dont know but hey get someone to offer you money or if they would do a chore for you around the house for each hiccup and it might go!
Otherwise drink from the glass not the side of the glass closest to you but furthest away and this works.

sugar water or holding my breath usually works for me,unless they're really bad.
plain water by itself does nothing for me.

Hi, agrim94. I have never heard of blowing up a balloon to cure hiccups. I know that if I drink a cool glass of water it usually gets rid of my hiccups. I have even seen parents put bits of brown paper towel on a babies forehead. This would seem to cure the babies hiccups.

My mother also told me to drink the water, but she also told me to add a sugar in it. I also know that you can "cure" it instantly by taking a breath for 30 seconds (or more if you can). I've never heard the trick with a baloon, I'll try it next time I get hiccups. Take care and happy mylotting!

Hiccups is your bodies way of getting air when it needs some. I always take a deep breath and then count slowly to at least 10. If you hiccup before you get through counting then start over again. You should be done with the hiccups. They will stop.

i get hiccups almost all the time and that too loud ones. hi,,hi,,hi. some people asked me to have a spoon of sugar but it didnt work. what my dad asked me to do really works. let me tell you how. count the time gap between one hiccup and the other. when the next hiccup comes hold your breath along with it or as soon as itz over and then hold your breath till it's time for the next hiccup to come ( you know the time gap from the first step) . when it's time, relaese the breath. it works for after doing it for 2 or 3 times. make sure when you do this. you should sit in a straight position without bending your spine
have a nice day :) and do let me know if it worked for you or not . :)
