I love to knit... I knit so much that I have to stop for a few days because my hands begin to hurt so bad, but that does not stop me for long though LOL.... The one material that I think is fun to knit is rope straight from the hardware store, the kind that you use to tie things down on the back of a truck or something. I knit the rope together to make handbags.I think the finished product looks so cool and it is very durable, look down below there are photos of two hand bags that I knitted out of rope. Do you love to knit, what materials do you knit for fun?

Hi, I sadly cant knit but I have been thinking of taking it up. We had to do some in school so I think I can remember some of the basic techniques, but that is about it. It looks so relaxing to do some knitting and it would be cool to wear/use something that I knew I created myself. In a couple of months I might be able to come back to the discussion and say... yes I knit!

Hi Majja, Yeah that would be great... in my opinion basic knitting is not hard to learn I am a hands on type learner myself if I watch some one do something I can pick up the technique pretty quickly, that's how I learned to knit, I kid you not, I ask this lady to show me how to knit and she slowed down her technique and I watched her knit in slow motion for about 15 or 20 minutes and I had it... I picked up the knitting needles, started knitting and never stopped that's how I learned to knit. shoot I surprised myself... LOL... but I did it in that small amount of time, and so can you my friend :)

I remember my grandmother cutting her old stockings into strips , she cut in a circular way so it was a long strand .. when she had a few of these she bleached them so they were all shades of creams and beiges .. and yes youve guessed it she knitted it up and made bath mats and mats to go next to our beds .. she must have dyed some especially for me as i had one with pink stripes in my room . She also cut pieces of rag into small pieces and used it as rug wool pulling it through the canvas with a hook .. They new all about recycling back in the day *

I do love to knit and like you, I have to stop for a few days sometimes. For me, it's my shoulders that bother me. I usually just use yarn (boring, huh?) but have knitted string and strips from plastic bags. I tried light wire, too, but it was hard to do.

I can knit, but I haven't tried any knitting material other than yarn. I'm not real creative, but I can follow a pattern. I knit alot of baby blankets to give as gifts for the new babies at our church.

I can't knit. It took me over 20 yrs (mind you I"m not that old either) to catch on to crochet, I think I'll stick to that since I've picked up on it during the past few years. But my Aunt does and she usually makes my kids mittens and hats for winter :)
