I'm making my brother a scrapbook for Christmas because he's 28, lives out on his own and has pretty much no pictures from when we were growing up. I'm going to surprise him by creating this for him with a bunch of pictures that he doesn't have. My mom took millions and I've copied some for myself but he's never seemed too interested in all of that until the last few years so I thought he would appreciate it.
Anyways, I've done scrapbooks before and I like to include things that are special touches. I made my mother one and included some poems that my grandmother had sent me that my mother liked and a report card from when she was in school. I can't think of anything special to make my brother's scrapbook truly his or to make it more special.. does anyone have any ideas?? I'm starting early because they take so long to make but I really want to get some ideas in mind!

i made 4 scrapbooks for christmas last year and had a blast. i also made a collage tin for our youth pastor and although i dont know him really well, i knew enough.
for instance, he loves to skateboard and his last name is powell (there is a company called powell skateboard! so i copied stuff off the internet for that; i got a pre printed pizza slice; used some music pages, stuff like that.
you have to know what he likes and is into - do a page of him on his dirtbike (or whatever).
if you want, i can give you some ideas if you can tell me what he is into.

My biggest problem is that as he got older, he seemed to avoid the camera like the plague so it gives me a challenge. When he was younger, there seems to be more because my mom would make him take pictures but as he got older, he avoided pictures!

My mom was pretty surprised. I thought she suspected what I was doing but she had no idea! She was shocked at some of the stuff I found, old report cards, cradle roll certificate. It was funny.

That is a great idea! Did he like sports or a certain band or just think of things he enjoyed,a favorite toy, a favorite ball team, or favorite colors? What hobbies did he have? What cars did he like?? I think if you will just stop and think of things you can remeber he enjoyed doing as a young boy and then as a teen you will find lots of ideas for pictures to dress up the pages. You can print off some pictures of those things by googling on the net since you are not selling them .
What does the bakground in the pictures consist of, can you build ideas from there- home, or the beach or a park or a zoo?? Things like that...
Did he have any little songs he ever sang, or funny little sayings , you could include those.
Did you mom ever do a baby book , if so that might give you some ideas or things that are stuck in but not attached that were his.
Best of luck! Let us know how he likes it.

I LOVE the ideas that you came up with. My mom started a baby book for both of us and then gave up after about one line with each of them. I'll have to ask my mom as far as some of the hobbies, toys and favorite colors because he's almost ten years older than me so I don't remember too much of what he was into when he was young. I really like your ideas though and I think I'm going to refer back to this as I do the scrapbook!
