Hello chameleon7, I don't have any anti-virus software installed for my computers at home. My husband said it is not really necessary since we seldom do a lot of stuff online. For my office, I use Symantec. I don't know whether it is good or not and I don't quite like it.

Hello chameleon7, I am not really good at it. Most of the time, I depend on my husband. But as far as I know, we seldom have problems with the computer. My husband and I used to surf online too but most of the time, he is using them to do his job.

oh, excuse me lady, you mean your compute at home have not installed any anti-virus software? how often do you have to re-install or restore your system? nowadays any computer needs one as long as it connects to internet. why don't you use a free one to protect your PC? I used norton internet security and that is Symantec product.

hi my friend!! if you want tn know my point of view, i think NORTON is not the anti virus that can satify you because it make your machine work slowly, so i advice you to use Avast! it is the best of the best, and it makes your machine protected completly, and it is so fast and when you use it you will forget virus.

I advice you to use Avast because he is the best . me too i love ZIDANE because he is the best of the best and he still the best for me, i was realy interested by his style and i prefer watch him playing rather than watch foot-ball in general, i am realy attracted by his talent and he is the best legend for all times.

I won't use Norton. It's a giant memory hog. Instead I use a combination of 2 programs: "AVG Free" and "Spybot Search and Destroy". both are free and relatively easy to use. just remember that you need to disable auto scanning, otherwise your computer will slow down considerable, at times you rather not have it.

I also use AVG free and it's been great. I actually used to use Norton but it slowed my computer doVG it actually caught some spyware and a trojan that Norton had missed.

seems like AVG free is a very good protector and it detected many virus and spywares on my PC and those were the ones could not be detected by the norton internet security. thanks for your advice dude.

i also use norton. i use a couple other programs for my anti virus too. i use spybot search and destroy. i like this one because it gets all the little ones that norton does not on my computer atleast. i also you window wiper. window wiper scans just your desktop to make sure nothing has been added inside a file and if something has it gets rid of it.

It's wise to use several software to protect the pc from virus. each solution has its pluses and minuses and use a few of them can better protect the PC. but some of the softwares do conflict with others.

Norton is a good anti-virus but it slows the system a lot as it uses a big amount of memory and also its very expensive comparing with other anti-virus products. I have avast for a long time and its also recommendable. Here in our place kaspersky is the cheapest and also the best for me. Currently i am using this kaspersky and it really is easy to use, small memory usage and also my computer is virus and malware free at the moment.

yes, norton slows down the system a lot. I heard of kaspersky and actually computers in my office used it to protect PCs because the technician guy loved it.

I have a licensed Avast 4.8 Home Edition. I am very satisfied with it because my PC has been protected for more than a year now. The last hard disk reformat I had was when the PC crashed when Norton was not able to protect it from internet viruses. Avast has been catching viruses and worms left and right. I immediately get a warning message (with matching jangling alarm) when a file I just downloaded is infected or when I open a website with trojans. Whenever I or any family member use our flash disks outside and connected them with friends' laptops or computers, we have a rule here to have each scanned by Avast first before we open any files. So far, it has worked perfectly because we really do catch viruses before they can even enter into our PC.

Hey there! I use AVG to scan my computer from viruses. I have only reformat my computer once in one year. I would suggest Mcafee. They say it's also a good anti-virus. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

I have to agree that Norton has become more of a problem than a fixer. I left Norton in the dust back in the early 2000's. I have to say that the free home edition of Avast has been good to me for a long time. I still say it is good. I have heard so much about bit defender and kasperkey's that I finally put kasperky's on mine yesterday. I don't know how I like it yet. It wants me to acknowledge that my e-mail has been scanned for reading when avast always did that automatically. An anti-virus program is pretty much going to work in the background unless it detects something so it is still important to have a system scan like advanced systems care or tune-up utilities. I don't think it's worth the money to change from the free avast cause I never had a problem with it. I will probably change back. I want to look over the preferences first.

I use to have norton and I have changed to Macafee. I don't like norton for the same reasons. I am not sure exactly how macafee is yet because I haven't used it that long yet, but it is definitely better than norton already. It is very fast to install and much lower maintenance.

Sincerely speaking i kinda tried them all so far and I have to admit some are really slow and slow down your system like crazy...but with no effect because viruses still find their way in if they have to. I think AVAST is not bad at all and it is free to use, it updates by itself a few times a day and is totally efforfree. I really recomend it. it was able to detect quite a few insults on my computer and finally, the price is unbeatable *::: it is freee

I used Norton for a couple of years and was not too happy with it. So for the past 2 years I have been using Webroot and I really am very pleased with it. I have it for virus protection also as my firewall.

I don't use norton either I like avg free edition 8.5 and that isn't nearly as much of a memory hog as norton is. Plus Avg can pick up stuff that norton can't. I got it from download.com I recommend avg free edition 8.5.

I have had Norton internt securiity ever since I had my compter. It as done well for me. I have not had any problem, I think it might be the level of service you have that might be casueing your problmems. look at the differnt levels of serice they offer and decide what is best for you. also you may what to look at other internet security if Norton is not to you liking. for me, norton have sucessfuly blocked haker attacks a few times when I was on a unfamilar web site, it showed that the theat level was high so I did not spend a lot of time there. Also it does a weekly scan that looks for virius and so far only traking cookies have poped up. I do not think I will change for now unless I find something better.
