Another chance for me to learn to drive

I am thinking of having one more go at learning to drive in an automatic car. I am going to be given a driving course which includes 45 hours of driving lessons and the theory test as well as the practical test.
When I lived in my cottage I learned to drive in an automatic car with a lovely driving instructor. He was patient and understanding. I found it easy to pass the theory test but impossible to pass the practical test.
When I moved areas and sold my cottage to live in my house I tried learning to drive in a manual car. I was good with the clutch but poor at changing gear. The car would often stall because I was often in third gear and I thought I was in first gear.
I bought my own automatic car and carried on with my driving instructor in my own car. I got fed up never getting to my practical test. I came home from my trip to Bulgaria and Romania ion 2006 and gave up learning to drive. My car sits in my parking space and has been there for the last three years.
Have you ever found it difficult to learn something?
Did you learn to drive easily or did you find it challenging?
Have you an ambition that you want to achieve?

I think you will make it this time. You got 45 hours to learn. I only got 10 hours and i can drive now. Considering that you already have driven a car before, i guess it would be easier for you to drive this time around. In fact, i think you'll learn easier there in your place because you have a wide road and the drivers follow strict rules unlike here in our place where the road condition isn't good and there are rugged drivers. Well i had difficulty in backing up.

Wow! You managed to learn to drive in just 10 hours. You must be talented and skilled. In my home country there are strict rules indeed. I know people that have been caught by the speed camera. There are narrow country lanes in some areas, steep hills and very few unmade roads. Reversing is challenging and parking can be challenging for me. Thanks for wishing me success.

I am glad that you passed your driving test the second time. It is interesting that you took the test abroad. When I worked in an office one of my colleagues had passed his driving test in the USA. His description of the driving test made it sound very easy. Things may be different now. I hope that you will pass your driving test in your home country. Good luck.

I'm 45 now and never had a license.
I don't know how to drive a stickbut that's probably because I never even tried to.
I know how to drive automatic but I just don't like to drive period.

Yes I found it fairly easy to learn to drive. Hopefully this time you will do well and pass your test. Maybe thats why you travel so much because you fly and someone else does the driving..or flying..lol..
It is harder to drive a manual transmission but once you get the hang of it, its not so bad. I prefer automatic though.
I have never found it difficult to learn anything, I catch on very quickly but do find it hard to have the attentions span to learn certain things if im not interested.

It is wonderful to hear that you found it reasonably easy to learn to drive. I am an academic sort of person and sometimes practical things are a bit more difficult for me. It is great to drive an automatic car and a with manual there is so much more for me to worry about. I love traveling and always someone else does the work of bringing me to my destination. My favorite way to travel is by train but by plane is quick. With my car I will be able to go where ever I like when I pass the test.

I drove my car for about a year without a license. I was lucky I didn't get caught because
it sure would have cost me a lot if I did. So I finally went for my drivers test after
a year and didn't pass it. So I practised by driving my car for another 6 months without
a license and went again and took the test.
I passed it the second time. I was so glad I did because I no sooner got my license, I
had an accident. If I had that accident about three weeks earlier I wouldn't have had
my license and I would have been in big trouble. That was 35 years ago and have never
been in another accident since.
I wish you luck with getting yours and don't give up. My mom took the test 6 times before
she passed but she was determined and she kept trying till she got it.
