age gaps and my needs

This past months when i entered college i realized and experienced the burden of having no computer. I approached my uncle and asked to please lend me money so i could buy one. I ended up being scolded. But that's not the worst thing happened. When he is scolding me about it my uncle pointed out that a computer at my age is "luxury"- that broke my heart. Now i realized that i am really a victim of what they call age gap they can never really understand our situation as anew generation. After then, he continued discussing things that had happened form his past. All he wanted me to understand was he did not need that thing why should i. Haii!.... But for me it will be called "luxury" if ever i would choose the brand of the computer.

People who don't see how important and integral the internet and computers in general have become to most of the world are severely out of the loop.

Please don't mind your uncle is lower than you in the matter of education. you have to make him understand by any how. It is the only solution of this problem.

For me I've never had to face that problem... instead it was my grandparents not understanding why I needed a new laptop that was a certain brand and $2500 instead of getting a cheaper model or having me bring my desktop to college. After explaining more about computers to them they finally understood and in the 2 years that have passed my grandpa is slowly getting more into computers with my help and seeing how big of a difference computers can be depending on what you need them for. In your case I would do what I did to get mind. I paid fully by myself for mine instead of asking for money. It's something that I've been doing the entire time in college and I'm going into debt doing it but it's made me work harder than thinking I'm just taking it for granted because I'm not seeing the money come out of my pocket.

Yeah, there definitely is a multi-generation gap with some older people - some of them just haven't grasped the concept that this is the computer age. Everyone has a computer, or at least has access to one. It is quickly becoming a household item. That being said, they are expensive. Rather than asking family or friends for money, why don't you get a part-time job while you're in school? I worked as a waitress the whole time I was an undergraduate. I made really good money and could afford a lot of things my friends couldn't. Get a job waiting tables or bartending, and you'll have a computer before you know it!

You are rather unfortunate to have an uncle with a rather restrictive views. How old is he? Not all old people have the same attitude. There are younger people than me who balk at buying a computer for their offspring, citing the lack of need for it. I guess it has something to do with personal interests and exposure. I see computers and the Internet as important. As a result even though we are not rich there are four laptops and two PCs in the household, plus another one loaned from the government. If you are living in and a citizen of my country I could have suggested several avenues. As it is I could only suggest approaching a/the religious body in your area. In my country students are given some money if they make a request. The money does help towards reducing the cost of the new term. For certain courses students have the option to apply for a laptop. all the best, rosdimy
