BUT!!! YOU don't recognize them back! Has this ever happened to you?
I was walking at the mall few weeks back when suddenly a guy approached me.. He asked me "Hey, you're from so and so school right?".. And coincidentally, I was.
But the thing is I can't recall who this guy is even after draining out every last ounce of my memory. So the story goes, we talked about like what he's doing nowadays and I acted like I remembered him and stuffs. Truth is I actually don't.. Hahaha..
Till this day, I'm still wondering who that guy really is...
Has this ever occurred to you? And did you accomodate to the situation like I just did?

Hello Gladys. How are you? haha... I have the same experience. I think i am pretty good at remember people's face, but i am bad at names, so when people remember my name and call it out, i feel so sorry that i forgot their name! And the worest part is that i can't tell them that i forgot their name, so i have say such as" oh, hi, how are you? What a nice day, isn't it?....." Shamped on me!

Hello zahfran! It happened to me a lot of times already. One incident is that when I went into the hotel together with my aunt, the receptionist smiled at me and started talking to me. She told me that we were classmates in college. I can hardly remember her but to avoid disappointing and embarassing her, I pretended to know her. Like you, she told me some incidents which is somehow true.

It hasn't happen to me as most of the time I am the one who can recognize them!
There was a time when I moved into a new dormitory and when I saw the girl, I knew I have met her somewhere. We were both looking at each other as we find ourselves very familiar. After an hour, I have recalled that I met the girl from the mall a year ago. She was the saleslady who gave back my shopping bag that I forgot in the fitting room! I talked to her and told her the story and then she remembered me.

I´ve always been very proud of my good memory. I never forgot a face. Ok, that´s not true. It happened to me just one time. It was 13 or 14 years ago; I was on my first year in highschool. Like many of my colleagues I was a victim of hazing. The very first day of class I was caught by the bad guys. Eggs smashed in my hair. Shoe polish all over my face and so on. But the second day I was faster than them.
Near my home I met a gorgeus girl I was interested on. She was introduced to me by a friend of mine a few weeks ago and I totally fell in love with her. She greeted me in a kind way and started to tell something about her brother.
But I was afraid of the bad guys and my memory made life difficult for me. I didn´t recognized the girl. Her face was familiar to me but my mind gone blank. So in the middle of the conversation I said: "Sorry, but I don´t know who you are".
She became shocked and turned around. I never saw her again. It is funny, isn´t it?

Yeah, I did. But, unlike you, I recognized the face. I just don't remember his name, and where did we met.

Always I am so bad with names. I can remember the face but the name always throws me off. I wish I could remember things better for this kind of stuff. Since I don't remember their name I pretend I don't remember ever seeing them and they will say its me Dana we went to school together. Oh yea right you look different I didn't recognize you rofl. I'm so bad.

That's a great idea.. Now, why didn't I think of that.. Hahahaha.. Yeah.. Think about it, it won't seem embarassing at all.. That guy would really think.. Have I really changed.. Maybe I look more handsome.. lol.. Thanks for the great response.. I'll definitely use that if I happen to come across a similar situation as this.

I am sorry to say this happens to me a lot. Even if I remember the person I will not remember their name. I have tried every trick in the book to help me with this. No good. OK its bad enough when its just you but the worst is when you are with some one and good manners say you should introduce them. Thats when its embarrassing.

I just remember a warning I heard on a TV show. Be careful when this happens. Its possible that its a scam. They say here's my email address and give me yours. Or your phone number. The email could cost you plenty of mail you do not want and the phone lets them know when you are not home

It happend to me few times, and i'm sure it will happen to me again. When it happend to me, I felt so embrassed that I can't remember the person face, and not knowing who is it. When I finally got remember who is it, I started to be as nicer as I can because I know it's not a good feeling when someone can't remember who you are, so I wanted him to feel better.

Yes, as a matter of fact this has happened to me too.
Although, I knew I'd seen this person "somewhere", but couldn't recall where.
The guy talked and talked about old times etc, and I'm goin' uh-huh, uh-huh, and yet for the life of me couldn't come up with the name of this guy, or where it was that we had met before.
Finally, I broke down and told him I didn't remember him, and could he please tell me his name, and where and when it was that we met. He was cool with this, and politely answered. When he told me his name, dang but didn't it all come back to me?
Indeed it did. I hadn't seen this guy in over 6 years, and it's now been 5 months since that incident occurred. But hey....at least I still remember his name.

Yes it IS embarrassing, and really makes you feel goofy, when they just go on and on and on about this and that, and you try not to hide your puzzled look.
Now when it happened to you, did you happen to recognize the person's face at all? If you did, then at least it was a start to somehow jog you memory...and in that case, you'd have one over on me.

Hey zahfran! Don't you just hate it when that happens! lol
I know I do! You don't want to ask them who they are, but you
don't want to look stupid either and let on that you really
have no clue either so you have to pretend that you know them!
It has happened to me many times! I try to not let on which
is not easy because I know the expression on my face has that
questioning look! I do what you do and hope that I get away
with it by just asking and answering the questions! And then
I walk away still wondering who I was talking to! And will
just keep wondering, like you, I guess!

Something similar happened to my sister. Her car had broken down and some guy stopped to help her. He asked, "aren't you...?" She told him she was and then said, "well who are you?" When he told her who he was, she knew him but never did recognize him. He had changed that much.
I haven't had that happen with anyone from school, but sometimes someone will approach me thinking I'm my twin.

Yes absolutely and more than once...lol.. I do the same thing. Act like I am surprised to see them while my braining is racing, trying to figure out who they are.
I always feel so stupid when that happens..SOmetimes I even remember where I know them from but cant remember their name...But do you know, I was wondering when they a\pproach us with the big hello, they dont use our names either, so does this mean they have forgotton too?

nope, I recognise most people that would recognise me too. Except at old hometown where some elderly people know who I am because I am the daughter/grandaughter of... but I dont know them. But then it doesnt matter so much because they also only know me as daughter of and not me because they met me somewhere.
What does happen is that I remember the person and all that comes with it, but no clue what their name is. that is also embarressing. But i will always get clean and tell them I forgot their name. I cannot stand pretending I know them/their name and then dont actually knowing it.

Yes this has happen to me a few times in my life. I remember see a woman in the store one day not long ago, she acted like she was really glad to see me. All the time she was talking to me I was asking myself "who is in the world is this person". After she was talking for a while, even though I tried to act like I knew her, she finally said "you don't know who I an do you". I had to admit to her that I didn't recognize who she was. Come to find out she was a girl that had grew up around my kids, I hadn't seen her since she was around 13 or 14 and at this time she was in her twenties.

That's weird. Are you sure he was not trying to approach you and get information out of you? He might just want to know you. Did you give out some information that did happen when you and him were at school?
I have never experienced it before, if people came approach me, I might not instantly rejmember his/her name and when I met him/her etc, but if I knew them, I would definitely have an idea who they are.

Yeah, it happened to me several times. Not only once. Few months ago someone was calling me at street, he knew my name and asked how bout my life this far. But, i couldn't remember him at all haha (i tried but failed to recognize him). I felt inconvenient to ask who are they, i thought it wasn't good decission. So till now i don't know who he is. Sometimes i think i have weak memory, need to upgrade it soon, lol.
