Do you donate blood?

Philippines

Yesterday I donate blood because My wife's grandmother needed some. It was lucky that we have the same blood type. It's good for the body to donate once in a while. I try to donate as much as I can. Did you know that a bag of blood cost a least Php2000 when purchasing at the red cross and probably more when purchasing it from hospitals? Most people are afraid to donate because it is painful. What are your thoughts?

I have heard of the health benefit of donating blood and how it could help those who are needing them. I really love to donate mine too it's just that I don't know how to do it. There was a time my workmates and I planned to join a Red Cross bloodletting program but some emergency matters prevented us from doing so. Maybe if I will be informed of a schedule nearby, I will really make sure I can donate some of my blood.

It's a good thing that our company invites the red cross people for blood donation. The sad part is, since I am working in a call center most people are not qualified to give blood. Most people are low blood or a high blood while most people are always on a graveyard shift. Thanks for the response

I tried to donate blood sevral years ago in the college, but ,unfortunately,I was rejected due to my myopic eye,it was really a pity. But ,at present ,I do not trust in the cars taking blood on the streets, and even most of the hospitals,i am afraid of the infectious disease, many of people sufferred AIDS caused by donating or selling blood. So ,please take care when you donate blood. If the hospital and doctors are trustworthy,I'd like to donate blood!!

I donated blood about two years ago. And that was a volunteer donation. Many friends around me also did it. I think it isn't painful when the blood is flowing. However, I felt very painful during blood test. Since then I know my blood type is O. May there were enough type "B" blood that hospital did not need "B" blood.

Honestly i am telling u dear that i have donated blood 4 times in my college time just in college camping.i felt very proud after doing this. The main reason behind this is that the blood donated by us used for good purposes and it felt us happy.secondly No pain just a simple pinch.nothing else and after that they gave us lots of nutricious food to regain blood.Really it was a satisfactory experience

I still heven't experience donating blood. Firstly, because I'm thin and underweight for my age. There is a weight requirement in donating blood, right? I failed that, and I don't know if I will be able to donate at all. Yes, I guess it is painful, but I think the pain might be just be the same when you are undergoing a CBC. Actually, I have no idea. But donating blood is one of the good deeds one can do unconditionally. Really, I praise those people who can donate blood. They're life savers.

I can not donate blood because i am ill. I suffer from anaemia and I lack nutrients. Unless the situation changes by improving itself, it is highly unlikely to donate blood.

hi king4aday, my dear fiend, i have donated blood and my hubby also donate blood. it is not even tyhat painful that one should be afraid of. and iam a person who is very afraid of needles and all that stuff, but when blood donation comes i ma very much clear in my mind that i have to dso this thing. infact once and for the first time , when my hubby's blood was taken , he was not even of seventeen years full and just becasue he looked tall and body builder type , people thought that he is posing that he is under age to donate blood becaue he dont wants too. and after that he fainted and he was offered a cup of hot coffee and then biscuits infact after that he wqas given some money also so that he dont tell all this to anyone. isnt this shocking. atleast for me it was shocking. how can anyone forcefully make you donate blood and then when you stsart feeling unhealthy gives you money so that you keep quite and keep your mouth shut. how disgusting.

Yeah! It's true that it's good for the body to donate blood once in a while especially men. ^_^ Donating blood may reduce the risk of heart disease and it may help you remove and clean your blood. Your body will replace the lost fluid after 24 hours. ^_^ But, I can't donate blood 'coz I'm anemic. Hehehe..But it's okay because women are having our menstrual period every month. ^_^

I belong to the group of belong who is so afraid of blood. Gee. I really dunno why. I always messed everytime I have this blood testing or whatever you called it. We have an annual test and I really hate it when it comes to blood test. Huh. On the other hand, I love watching vampires who is prone to blood. Maybe someday I can able to donate when I am not afraid anymore.

They won't allow me to donate blood because I have a lot of piercings and tattoos. None of them are fresh and all of them were done in sterile conditions. I don't understand what this has to do with donating blood. I don't have any blood borne diseases. Don't they test the blood anyway for diseases? If they don't, then that is frightening. So it frustrates me that I can't donate blood when I would be more than happy to.
