Do you prefer Body wash or a bar of Soap?

I honestly wouldn't call a bar of soap a good friend of mine because I had enough run-ins with dry skin after a soap bath. It looks like my dry skin isn't as dry as I was lead to believe.
I figured out that it was the soap that was making my skin dry and scummy, and it only got that way after a bath. When I started using body wash I was amazed at the continued softness of my skin.
WHAT? Soft skin? I was the queen of dry skin until that day.
Ok am I talking off the wall here?Believe me it's not my intention, just thought I'd share my soap and body wash experience with you. I guess soft skin can make a person squeak a little bit.
Which do you use? or prefer to use?

I use bar soap for my face but body wash for my body. Both are Dove soap. I've used a few different soaps in my lifetime and for a long time my skin was so sensitive that I could only use Ivory soap, but that left my skin dry.
Once I tried Dove and it didn't give me hives (which all soap except Ivory did for a long time), I kept using it. It really does help with dry skin!
I have enough physical problems right now and don't need dry skin on top of them all! I love my Dove! I use Dove everything, soap, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant.

Hey girl. I thought all soaps worked about the same. I guessed I just learned something here. I never tried Dove or Ivory before. I might give it a go to see what happens, maybe.

BUT Dove and Ivory also have body washes too :) Some of them also have added extra moisturizers. That way you know your skin won't dry out!!

i agree with you. some soaps makes your skin dry, well because of ingredients. but with dove, since it got moisturizers, it feels good on my skin. i also used ivory before since it is so mild also.

My husband still buys bar of soaps because it doesn't affect his skin at all, lucky him.

Ever since I switched to body wash, I've felt more clean too. It may be true, or just in my head.

I prefer using soap because I tend to stay longer in the bathroom when I use a body wash. Besides I am sometimes lazy of using a sponge or bath scrub which is needed when you are using a body wash. I prefer using soap because I can immediately scrub it with my body and then I can wash it easier compared with body wash that sometimes seems like a shampoo. The soap that I am using has a Shea Butter so it does not make my skin dry. I love the smell and the texture of that. Anyway we should use what we are comfortable with be it a soap or a body wash.

If I can find a bar of soap that doesn't leave my skin dry, I would definitely stick with that. Soap is easier for me to use.

I use to itch after a bath when I used soap but I didn't know it was the soap.

Well body wash is like luxury for me because it is so expensive. It smells nice, is easy to use and lathers up well. On the other hand, it's hard to find a body wash that isn't tested on animals and doesn't contain too many nasty chemicals, which are things I look for when purchasing soap.
I prefer bar soap because it lasts longer and there are a few brands that are all natural and don't contain animal products. I always find that I get body wash for christmas as it's a popular gift-it's easy, not too expensive and usually comes in a gift pack with a loofah and maybe some moisturiser so I do use body wash but generally only around the months of December/January!

Here we haven't used the soap to take a bath for a long time. We prefer to use body wash because it seems your skin won't be so dry after that. Besides, it has a better smell. I just use the soap to wash hands.

Once again...so nice to hear from you..have wondered and truly hoping all is falling into place in your life...and it is beautiful!
I would almost BET, that it isn't the fact; Body wash versus Bar Soap...I would be more inclined to believe that it is the ingredients & quality! There is an amazing amount of bar soaps out there...lots just cheap! There is quality bar soap out there, you spend a bit more on...like you do Body Wash, and you will have good results! I use Yves Rocher, as they are all Natural! Cheers!

What's up pergammano? Good to hear from you too. I guess I just been using the wrong kinds of soap. I've never even heard of Yves Rocher. I prefer natural stuff anyway. I might go that route.

Welcome bruce1 to myLot! I find that your "one" word comment does not make any sense, and I think if you wish to earn here, it would be wise to read the guidelines, and make an effort to play within them, that way you will earn the respect of some of the senior members here (and I definitely am not one of them) as there are persons here with over 10,000 posts!) So, just in deference to them, it is wise to follow the guidelines....Cheers & happy posting!

I have naturally oily skin so I tend to prefer a bar of soap to body wash. Body wash makes me really slippery feeling and also I just don't feel as clean after taking a shower with body wash than I do with soap. I prefer to use either Dove or Oil of Olay soap as they do not dry my skin out. Other brands sometimes leave me feeling slightly dry.
Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

I usually go cheap myself, but sometimes I have to have a few exceptions. I hate dry skin.

I have used Zest bar soap since 1972. I've tried body washes because I like the way you only need a little on a bath puff and you can wash your whole body. I also like the idea of soft skin.
But I don't use body wash because it makes my skin feel as if I'm covered in plastic. I don't feel clean, my skin is soft but the pores must be clogged up because I get horribly hot even in the winter. I can't use body wash--and it stinks! There is no unscented body wash. Zest has a scent but it's fresh, not perfumy.

i prefer body wash to soap..most dermatologists that i've asked about this say that a liquid soap is better because it has a lesser "drying effect" on the skin..and the fresh scent stays even longer on the skin...it's just that it's a bit more expensive than a bathsoap..but for a beautiful skon we have to spend a bit morw.

I agree that bar soaps tend to make my skin dry too but i can't stand the greasy feeling body wash is giving me. It's pretty hard to rinse too! I think bar soaps last longer than body wash at least for me. Bar soaps are cheaper too i think!

I prefer bar soap, but I use one that has moisterizers in it. I guess I have combination skin because it's dry in some spots but not others. Body was made the areas that weren't dry too oily, but it did help the dry areas. With the bar soap, I used moisterizers in the dry spots and it works for me.
I did a blind product trial on hand cream recently, for two creams that aren't available on the market yet (I think they were the same in scented and unscented versions). They were the best that I'd ever used. After finishing the two week trial, I tried to find out what they were, but was not able to. I still have some of the scented one, so when I go shopping I put some on, so that I can compare the scent to whats at the store. Hopefully, sooner or later I'll figure out what they are from the scent.

Hello, MyLotters! :)
I prefer body wash way over bar soap. Bar soap leaves me feeling all sticky and dry after I bathed, and I hated that with a passion.
