My poor daughter is suffering from a kidney infection. This has had me very stressed out. She has continued to get UTIs since Jan and has been taking loads of antibiotics. We just took her back to the Dr and now she has a Kidney infection and she was now prescribed the strongest antibiotic. This gets me so worried and stressed out. I hope its not some kind of drug resistent bacteria. Have you ever had re occuring infections and a kidney infection? How did you get rid of it?

UTI is common in children and women but u must be cautious as the infection can go up till ur kidney and coz kidney function that latter could lead to kidney dysfunction

my son had kidney infections all the while he was young, he has birth defect, it is called reflux, the urine goes right back into his kidneys instead of going out. There is nothing to do for that.

he has a double urinary track and there is a little opening where they meet and that is what makes the urine go back, he just has one very small kidney that is all.

Did your son get any holes in his kidneys because of it? My youngest son had the same thing where some of the urine would go back into his kidney's. He ended up getting a hole in each of them. The doctor put him on an antibiotic. Fortunately the infection cleared up on it's own. If it hadn't he would have had to have a kidney transplant.

How old is she? Can they do an MRI or something of that nature to see what's going on? I use to get them constantly when younger. Had a hysteroctemy many years ago and the kidney infections went away. I had 3 children by this time and had other issues. Hopefully she begins to feel better soon. I know how we all worry about our kids. Such precious, little people.

I found that antibiotics and drinking lots of cranberry juice cleared up UTI's.

My youngest son suffered from a bladder infection when he was an infant. He was on antibiotics for the first few years of his life. My husband and I didn't want him to be on antibiotics for so long, but if he were to have relapsed the antibiotics wouldn't have done any good and he would have had to have a kidney transplant. So we kept him on them for as long as we could. He has since gotten off of the antibiotics and his infection has cleared up. Thank goodness! PS I see that this post is a couple of months old. How is your daughter doing now?

hi moneymommy oh once you get an uti you usually will have 'to ' fight it over and over but once you get the right potent antibiotic you will be well in just a few days. Sometimes'on person will not respond to a certain antibiotic that another will respond to so many times the doctors have to try several to'get the one your own body responds to. I have gone through' the same thing as your daughter, but my doctor found the one antibiotic that did work for me, and it cured me in a few days. I have not had another session with a uti since. hope your daughter also lucks out like that. It was an extremely strong antibiotic but it really did do the job.

I have never had a bladder, UTI, or Kidney infection before and neither have my kids. I can't imagine it is any fun. How old is your daughter?

We've never had anything like that here so I can't speculate really. But I would be of some great concern with all that's going on that something further isn't happening to your child if this round of antibiotic doesn't work. The closest infection we've had that reoccured was something that looked like a cross between a boil and a bug bite on my girls. Though someone said it was probably just a different type of boil than what I was used to. But IMO if the ped wasn't sure then what was it? She'd get this lil ingrown hair looking thing, then it would have a tiny head that was like a black head the rest was say half a pencil eraser size and it would just radiate redness to the size of a quarter but it remained flat. The first one I got her to the ped and I've never seen so much yuck from something that looked like a bug bite and greenish yellow no less! The antibiotic helped it heal faster and come to a head but my oldest had that like 3-4 x! She even has a tiny scar from it! my middle 1x and my lil one nothing so far. But it was just odd. I hope this round of antibiotics takes care of things for your daughter and she's feeling better in no time. Have you tried cranberry juice or dried cranberries to help with preventing the UTI's? Good Luck!

I suffer from kidney infection. It relapses every once in a while, making my life so much more difficult. I get aches, water retention and some sort of cramps. I hate the sensation. I know I should go for a checkup, but to be honest I am scared of it.
