My k-mart Deal

We went to k-mart on sunday and found some pj bottoms + matching tee for $2! We thought that was a pretty good deal til hubby found a suede coat for $5.99. Then for kicks we went to the K-mart closer to home..... they were marking down the kids jackets (including one I had wanted from the other store that was only 50% off msrp). So we wandered around and the manager was like..... all these coats are $1.99! I got my kids 7 coats (2 included snow pants) for $14! Including that set from the other store that was still $24, was $1.99! I was so excited, I told my daughters classmates parents and they didn't find as many as I did but were still pleased I told them to run over there and look to see what's left.
I love a good bargain from k-mart! As you don't see those prices at a thrift store most of the time these days.

You found some very great deals! I'm so mad at K-Mart because they are closing all the nice stores in my area. They are keeping the stores where everything is locked up open and I hate going to them because if you want to buy anything you have to find a clerk to get it and take it to the service desk until checkout time.

That's a shame is it in a bad area? I know most stores get sick of all the losses and close up shop when they are in not so good areas of town. I don't go that direction unless it's a specialty item and I have no other choice.

All the ones that are closing are in the rich area of town. The ones that are staying open are in the slums.

Sounds like the local communities are running k-mart out of town to me. You know like it'll bring down their community for having a "poor" store instead of higher end stores hence keeping the rif-raf out of the area.

Wow, I wish I lived closer to a Kmart! You're right you can't get new stuff like that at goodwill for those prices. What a great day you had!

I had not seen that good of a deal there in a long time. You know an occasional item but we just went there on a fluke to windowshop the clearance racks. Their next big markdowns I don't think are until about July (sometimes August).... when they get their back to school clothes in.

That is an awesome deal on the jackets and snow pants!!! Even though my kids are way out of that kind of stuff I'd buy them and hoard them for Christmas presents or to donate them around the holidays. Sadly, our K-Mart store is beat down and looks like it's straight out of the 80's. The aisles are crowded, the merchandise looks beat up and no one can answer a simple customer service question. I do find some cool stuff in the clearance section but sometimes you really have to dig for it lol. Congrats on the awesome finds!

Well I found out partly why the customer service sux there is because the turnover @ the one by us is rediculous. I guess a gal I work with works there too and she said they have some sort of policy where if you call in sick it has to be 24-48hrs before you work!!! Now I know I'd feel better by then and what do you do if you got sick less than that? Call in & get one strike against you.
Ours looked kinda shabby til they remodeled most of them when they made them "big k"'s up here. I went there today and found only 2 pair of snow pants on the whole store! Grabbed the pair of navy blue lighting McQueen pants for my kids, those will last better than the pink ones ;)

sounds like you got some great deals! unfortunately here in canada, all the kmarts closed but i do sometimes get some clothes for $4 at walmart and have gotten a couple of pairs of shoes for $3- there.
no, you are right, even at thrift stores the prices - i was at my favourite one today and saw a nice blouse but it was $4-! lol

Exactly no point in buying used if you know your prices and watch the clearance racks to find it for the same or cheaper for new. I only buy things on half price @ the thrift store, $4 isn't really worth it but $2 would be do able.

That's awesome that you found these great deals. I always love it when I find bargains such as these. I will have to check out KMART and see if I can find some good deals such as these. I always shop end of season sales, because you can always get them a lot cheaper.

That's the best time of year to shop! I usually mark when I find my best deals on the calendar so I know what's what for next year ;) But they've changed their clearance program a lil bit in recent years. Still can't beat that, unless you find a rummage sale where everything is .25 or less
