If you are NOT Christian, do you celebrate Easter in any way?

Easter is (nominally) a Christian holiday (Passover is, of course, the Jewish holiday on which the Christian Easter is based).
Is this a season of remembrance and reflection for you, if you are religious/spiritual but not specifically Christian?
If you do, how do you celebrate Easter (or any date near it)?

Not religous, Christian or otherwise. We celebrate a secular Easter for the kids...

Well to clarify, my Dad is a non-observant Jew and my mom was a non-observant Christian. I wasn't raised in either religion, but we celebrated Christian holidays when I was growing up, in a secular way.

I came from a Christian background and upbringing, but some years ago, turned to the pagan/wiccan path. I've not totally turned my back away from some Christian ideals, so yes do celebrate Easter (as well as Christmas)---I do so since usually Easter comes close to the Spring Equinox celebration of Ostara, and also gives me a good excuse to fix up a special dinner that I normally wouldn't fix otherwise

Yes, it doesn't matter exactly what we celebrate or even understand it so long as we recognise that there is something to be celebrated ... and recognise that it has value (which is what 'worship' means).

I'm not religious at all, and I still celebrate easter. It's sort of an excuse for a big dinner. I also colour eggs and get an easter basket full of chocolate and candy. And I'll probably bake cup cakes this year. I don't see it as a religious holiday at all, even though it is. But it's just a fun time of year of me.

yes I celebrate Easter
but I dont focus on the Jesus aspect of it
even though I am pagan my hubby is Christian and right now the kids are going to Christian church
so I am happy to explain the jesus stuff to the kids but I also explain other aspects as well
I do the same for ALL holidays!

I do not celebrate EASTER . But i remember JESUS christ who sufferred for us on the
cross. I am HINDU by birth. I believe that religions are different paths to a single
GOD.

I agree with you that all true religions are separate paths to a single goal. I suppose that I have to say that I am 'Christian' by birth but there is so much that I can see wrong with what Christians have done (yet right with what is at the centre of the religion), that I am confused and would rather not be called 'Christian'.

I do celebrate Easter but I'm not an actual Christian, I don't really celebrate it for the traditional Christian reasons (Unfortunately I can't go into much detail on a public site, sorry). I do like all the 'Christian' times of year, Easter and Christmas specifically, I just like to enjoy time with family at those times of year, I see it as more of a celebration of family rather than anything else.

I agree that we do need times when, as families or communities or even individuals, we come together. It's like the regular twisting of a rope or the weaving of basketry. Without it, we would probably fall apart.

I'm not Christian but have lived in the UK since birth. We get Good Friday and Easter Monday off here as bank holidays so it's a 4 day break from work generally for those who work Monday to Friday. I don't specifically do anything to celebrate Easter, although I do give Easter Eggs to my little brother, erm, even though he's now 37 and to my friends' kids too (they're actually kids LOL). Regardless of the religious aspect of it, for me it's like Christmas, a time to make children smile and a time to try to be nicer to everyone :)

I am not Christian....was raised Catholic but don't follow it. Our family celebrates it by gathering for dinner and that's about it. I used to make easter baskets but can't afford that anymore. After diner, I go to work and everyone else goes their own way. It isn't a big holiday for us...an excuse to get together pretty much. Actually the dinner part is a carryover from mine and my brother's upbringings. We haven't done the church thing in years.

I know these festivals. To be honest, we don't celebrate them! Well, Chrimstmas day also has something to do with Mr God! It is no doubt that we celebrate it as well as you guys do!

Easter has always been for me, a time of rebirth.........the earth and all the life it supports, and of course the 'rebirth' of my attitude towards my world and all it contains. I celebrate the spring more than the 'holiday'..........

I celebrate Easter as humans have always done, basking in the earth's renewal and the reminder that all life continues, energy only changes form it cannot disappear.

I totally agree. Remembering to accept the energy, whatever we call it, is good, especially when the world around us is full of new life and acceptance and rebirth.

I have a friend who is jewish, they do the "fun" Easter bunny stuff, but that's it. Since we are, we do the traditional dinner, Easter baskets and egg hunt.

hmmmmmmmm..........i find this story of yours quite fascinating.
i always thought Easter was a celebration of the shift in the Earth's axis which causes bunnies to lay colored eggs and in some mysterious way produce chocolate candy and malt balls.
you sure about this religious spin on the whole thing.
