Back in Saskat, but moving in June.............

Sparks House - Make me an offer........
Regina, Saskatchewan
April 9, 2009 10:11pm CST
It's official. I'm moving. We finally put our house on the market and an offer to purchase on a house one province over from where we are living now. I'll be less than a day's drive away from my best friend and my family. So I'm over the moon, and will only drop back to earth if our home here doesn't sell. So wanna buy a house? Please! It's really cute and priced right, I swear! I need to get a few projects (like the fence) finished, but trust me, I'll get it done! LOL I've been so busy getting all this organized, and then the road trip to Manitoba, and home again I scared the hell out myself when I finally got back on the computer and opened my inbox. LOL It will take me days to sort through all the emails, so to those of you who have answered my discussions, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. To those of you who have posted new ones, I'll get to them asap. Would you move in this economy?

Sparks, I just figured you had dropped off the side of the earth some place. Actually, my laptop is OUT...and I didn't have your address in my PC, so I couldn't ask you how you were doing or where you were. Hope your house sells quickly and you get the house you want. So you did get your husband off on the trip?

I forgot to say, "No, I would not move in this economy." Nobody would buy our house with the mess next door anyway, expecting to see a Bingo Hall going up any day. BUT, thank the Lord, ADEM finally notified us that they are after the company that didn't put up the silk screens before doing the excavating, and they have 30 days to answer the charge! So maybe we can get our front yard back in shape. Otherwise, it will be mid summer or later before we can mow half our lawn - it's a soup hole!

I'm glad you got your husband to see it your way! As for the Bingo Hall, the governor is trying to get it stopped. He has an investgation going on. Also the Alabama Coalition (Randy Owens of ALABAMA fame is the one backing it, along with George Jones and Lori Morgan and a few other singers) had 9 counties in AL they were trying to get legalized gambling in - it will be on the next ballot. Someone got two of the counties taken off AND the county next to us was one of them, thank the Lord. So, if it goes through, then they would taken off the gambling map and this one would never be built! I just wish they'd work with the laws already on the books and gambling would never have become a problem - it's illegal here.

Hey, look who is back!!! In this economy, assuming I could sell my house, and assuming somebody else would do the packing and unpacking, maybe. Lower taxes!!! I'd love to buy your house but it kind of snows up there. Maybe I can send somebody with thicker blood? But I really, really hope it works out for you!

If you can move and the price is right, this is as good a time as any You may not get as much for your house as you'd like, but you're also not probably paying as much for the new place as that owner would like so it's equal, more or less I hope the new place is easier on you, your dog needs a rest from rescuing you

Poor dog didn't get to come on the trip.............but she stayed in her dog run for the neighbour who looked after her while I was gone, and that was a good thing. lol We're going to make out like bandits on our house because we picked it up for a steal of a deal, and are working another steal of a deal on our new one. It's the perfect time for US to sell and buy right now which is lucky for us. And Spunky will be able to make new friends!

Hey Lakota...........I'm looking forward to this move, especially now that the hubs is committed to it too. Finally! He changes his mind like an old woman, but he found a house with the kind of shop on the property he can only dream of, so he's in heaven! And a happy hubs is a happy wife right?.................ok, maybe not! LOL

Wow... that was quickly decided. Congratulations, my friend! I guess the answer to your question is yes, I probably would move in this economy because the bank interest rates are so low that it has to be worth it, if you really want to move. Brightest Blessings, and good luck with the sale of your house.
@Darkwing (21583)

I daresay your offer allowed for a counter-offer, didn't it? It always pays to offer a little below what you want to pay and then the seller thinks they've done well. lol. I'm sure it will all go through more quickly than you think... stay positive my friend.

When the hubs finally makes up his mind he doesn't mess around with following through! LOL A very good thing actually. We're not out of the woods yet. Our house is now up for sale, but the vendor on the other end has counter offered against us, so we are still in negotiation. But we have decided that the town it's in is definitely where we want to be.............so this could turn into a longer process than we hoped, but we'll get there in the end. We always do. Brightest Blessings to you on this day Darkwing..............

Hey Sparks! Glad to hear that you feel GOOD about this move--I moved at the end of January (through no choice of mine) about 20 minutes east of nowhere (away from my friends). My home is STILL caught in short-sale he11 (so I'm not making a cent there!), so I've been ineligible for assistance (which you need when you make so little PT). Now that I've had my hours cut (I get a whopping 10 hours a week, down from 25), I've decided to get my business back and active and it's working! But congratulations--I'm glad things are working out well for you!

Hey, it's not stubborn but 'strong-willed'! (That's what I was told this morning anyway). Obviously you're quite happy to be moving on, things are improving with the hubs, so I'm quite pleased for you (although when you were going through things, you shared your pain with everyone in such a funny way that it helped ease (at least my) troubles!). I'm glad my business is coming back--I really love doing it!

We still have a long way to go, but my hubs is the most hardheaded person I know, so I'm not too worried. lol If anyone can make things happen, he can! I'm sorry to hear your hours have been cut (Ontario?), but so glad to hear your own business is doing better. Things may balance out for you that way I hope.

Hi cappy darlin', how are ya? I've missed your smilies! lol Thanks for the compliment on my house. My hubs did all the reno work himself and I did the pretty stuff. lol It's the cutest house in four counties, so it should sell well and quickly, in spite of the economy, which really isn't affecting us here yet, so it's a good time to move.........

Hi sparky, Welcome back, I've missed you! did you find a nice house to your liking? and did you have a fantastiic time on your road trip? I bet you did. Sometimes it is a good idea to move in times like this, it could turn out the best to do as my friend did, she even had extra money to go abroad on holiday. I wish you luck on the sale of your house. Glad you are back. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxxx

Hi sweetheart........I missed you all too. The road trip was such a lovely change and the house isn't bad, but give me a few weeks with it and I'll turn it into a real showplace. I love the town it's in, and it has the perfect shop for my hubs reno business so I can't complain if he's happy. I'm looking forward to the move now, so fingers crossed our offer is accepted and our house here sells quickly.

Sweetie, welcome home! Well, home temporarily, anyway. Congrats on finding the new house! With your talents, you'll have it sparkling and gorgeous in no time. But selling your old house might be quite a test, darlin, although I most sincerely hope it sells quickly. What's your feeling on this? Do you think it will sell relatively quickly, Spark? And an even more important question, does it have pines we can dance under, sniff, sniff? Is there anywhere we can do our spin dancing in the new place? Gawd, I certainly hope so! Now for some moving tips: label everything, use plastic grocery shopping bags for packing - it weighs nothing and works extremely well. You can "accordian" some cardboard and pack your glasses that way. Like /\/\/\/\/\. Worked very well for me - not one glass broke. I also used the shopping bags when packing the glasses. Oh, and start in one room. In one corner, if you have to. Get all of one room done before you start in another. It makes for much less exasperation. Can't think of anything more at the moment, but if I do, I'll write. And if you have any questions, ask. Moving sucks. We might as well make it as painless as possible, eh? Love ya, sweetie. Very glad you're back. xxx

Hey nova.........jumped any dogs lately? No wait, that's Annie's horse, Nova! LOL I had to laugh when she told me about that. Anyway, moving for me is almost automatic, I've done it so many times. I like the idea about the 'accordian' cardboard for the glasses though..... The hubs has come up with an aggressive marketing plan for the sale of our house. It worked for the last one we sold, and hopefully will work for this one. We'll see and I'll keep you informed. I've just heard that we have received a counter to our offer on the new house, so that's not good, but frankly, it doesn't really bother me. I'd rather get this house sold before I commit to a new one. The house we offered on is more for the hubs (has a huge workshop on the property, perfect for his reno business) than my kind of house, but I'm a good wife and will make a silk purse out of anything if it makes the hubs happy........... Stay tuned! lol

I'll only buy it if you stay Sparky. Seems silly to move all that way and find that my playmate has moved to another province. Anyway, I know that I can still get to Manitoba, wherever that is on my pushbike - so you'e not out of the woods yet. There's still a good chance that P1key will come a calling!!! I do hope that you can sell quickly. Our neighbour's house is on the market and they have had it viewed 5 times since it went on last monday. Someone's still buying. Actually, according to the New Scientist magazine, a truly heavyweight and serious mag, we all need to move to Canada as global warming will force the world to heat up by 4 degrees Centigrade over the next 80 years making most of the world too unpleasant to live in. Stand by for Canada to suddenly become the country of choice for Floridians!!!! LOL.

And everything in print is gospel right? LOL Houses here, in the prairie provinces sell within weeks of being on the market. I had 12 homes lined up to see in Killarney, and by the time we got there, ten of them had already sold! So our real estate market here is still moving fast. It's bit of a bummer though that we are over 600 kms from our preferred area to purchase. I've just got off the phone with our agent there, and we now have to make a counter offer.....so we're not out of the woods yet. But at least the hubs has committed to the area and Killarney, so I can't complain. And yes, do oil up the pushbike Mr. Fish.........you'll fit right in tooling around town on it! LOL

The agent we dealt with in Manitoba took us to this house even though it's not listed yet. It had been on the market and the listing had expired, but it's empty, and the owner still wants to sell, so we got to view it. But that means there are no pics. Actually, it looks pretty similar to the house I have now, except that the siding is grey and all the trim is brown. Yech! We'll be changing that right quick if the purchase goes through. The owner has counter offered, and because of the Easter weekend, we won't know if we have it for sure until next week as we are not accepting the counter offer, and have to re-offer at the price we are willing to pay which is of course, higher than our initial offer. This house buying business is complicated! LOL And you'll be pleased to know that there isn't a hole next door, but no kidding, there is an empty lot. Apparently there was a hotel there at one time, but it burned down. LOL So of course the hubs wants to buy the empty lot!

WELCOME BACK!!!! I'VE MISSED YOUUU!!! You do EXACTLY what is BEST for you!!! Being close to friends & family can make up for a bad economy!!! It may mean that your house will be slow to sell though. I have 2 friends who put their houses up for sell at the same time & they lived in the same development so their houses were almost identical in looks. One took 2 years to sell. The other closed 3 months later & that person had looked at the other house first. So, it's a lot of luck!!! The right person...in the right mood...at the right time. May you be lucky & find the right person right away!!! Wishing you LUCK!!!

Thanks for luck Lady M! I've missed you too by the way! We are marketing our house in a market one province to the west and moving one province to the east. Like, could it get more complicated? LOL But buyers from the west will pay our price and think they're getting the bargain of the century, so it's all good.

Hi TL! Good to see you. I missed you.............can't think why. ROFL We are currently living mortgage free too and will also when we move. That's the most appealing thing for me. Selling this place and making more than enough to buy another one with lots of moola left over.....can't beat that. But there is no way I'd move if it meant taking on a mortgage. When we moved here we had money left in the bank, but my son's illness ate that all up, so this move will take us back to where we were financially when we came here, and that will mean that the hubs can get out of the oil fields and concentrate on his reno business and he'll be home nights......................oh sh*t, it just occurred to me that he'll be HOME nights!!!! I may have to rethink this move........ROFL Pass the cheescake before I faint will ya? LOL Thanks.
