Hello mylotters,
Are you the only child in your family? If not, how many sisters or brothers do you have? How are you getting along with them?
I'm a first-year college student who has two brothers. One is 37- a government servant and the other is 32 who has his small private business. It seems that there is a large age gap between us but we can understangd each other well.
My brothers got married several years ago. Now i have had a 4-year-old nephew and a 11-year-old neice and they are both lovely.
My brothers are busy so i can chat with them only once a week or even less. Compared with me, they are more experienced and mature, i can learn a lot from their words. It is really a precious wealth.
May they be happy all their life!

I am an only child. I was able to be around my cousins quite a bit so I had other kids to play with...which is always great because I had someone to play with and keep me busy but never had to share anything or fight over anything LOL. Even though I was an only child I was no where near spoiled, I mean yes I was able to have my own things and not have to worry about sharing but my mom didn't give me anything I wanted. But I really appreciate that now because I now that I am an adult I am able to take pride in the things that I have and have worked for. But it also would of been nice to have at least one sibling so as an adult you could lean on one another.

I envy you in a way.I am the eldest in three girls. Lots of pressure to tell you frankly and I am not living up to the standards of my parents. My younger sister though is an over-achiever and I get shunned to the background. Now she is happily married and I am not. I am in my 30s now and I am feeling desperate.
I would love to have an older brother though.

I have 2 half brothers and 1 half sister. I am the baby. The oldest of my brothers is almost 50 I think and my sister is in her late 40's. My other brother is 43 and I am 35. I don't speak to my oldest brother at all. Not by my choice but I am not sure of why he doesn't care to speak to me. He didn't even bother to talk to me when our mom passed away in October. My sister is on my myspace and we message each other sometimes. My other brother and I are a little closer and we do talk on the phone or email sometimes. Overall I don't really have a close relationship with any of them. I would be willing to but none of them make an effort.

No, I am not an only child, although I often feel as though I am. I have one brother who is two years older than me. We are not close. We were close when we were children, but then my parents took in a lot of reltaives children, all boys and then I felt like I got left on the roadside. My relationship with my brother has never been the same. He married, and his wife and I were close for a little while but that relationship also deteriated. I see them on holidays, but not to often.

Thanks for your response.
It seems that you have no age gap with your brother, but why... a little sad
Have a nice day

I am the only child in the family. My parents are the only companion to me .
I am having many cousins who are helpful to me. They give me the right direction.
i also help my younger cousins when they seek me. I like my mother than my father.
She cares me a lot. Without her , it is impossible for me to enjoy life.

You're lucky to have siblings, so enjoy every moment of it. I have a brother and a sister, and I am the youngest. However, I grew up alone since I was the one left with my father when my parents separated since I was just a kid. I don't even remember playing with them, although we only have a small age gap.
Although I have friends and some cousins, I still felt the loneliness inside especially if I am alone. However, I am still glad that I met my brother 5 years ago. I just wish I can still see my sister someday.
By the way, I am now 43 and a happily married man with growing kids.

I guess you must have a very wonderful feeling with two old brothers who will take care of you any time you are in need of help.
I have only a sister four years older than me.but she did not like to play with me ever since my childhood. When i started my senior high school, i had to become one of the boarders since my house was far away from the school.and i got only one chance a week to go back to home except for summer vacation and winter vacation, so in my whole senior high school. i and my older sister have little chance to meet each other. It looks like we were indifferent to each other at that times.
Such a situation did not change until i went to college in 1996.
In Septemper 1996,I finally arrived at my campus about 1100 km away from my hometown accompanied by my sister.from that time on i come to realize the careness from my sister, maybe it was just because that we were all becoming more and more mature so that we could understand each other much more.

I think your admiration for your brothers is really beautiful.
I only have one sibbling. I would have loved to have been one of several, but it did not work out that way. I am sorry that I live a very far distance from my sibbling, if I were to drive to where he lives without stopping for gas, food, or restroom - it would take more than 17 hours. We also do not talk with each other very often at all.

I am not the only one. Hehe :p
I have one brother and two half siblings. Well, you know what I mean. The gap between me and my brother is 2 years. Then next to him is 8 years I guess and another 3 years again. It only means I am the eldest of the four. I visit them every other week since I am living independently. Thus, every time I go there, they are so excited to see as well as my dog named Angel. That's it.
