Would you rather win the lottery or be president?

I think this question is interesting because it presents a choice between two things which have been universally coveted throughout human history: Money and power and all that they bring. Many dream of becoming rich or president and the more dedicated spend their lives working towards it. Both are tough goals that few achieve, although becoming a mega-millionaire seems like the more attainable of the two.
So what would I rather have: 200 million dollars or the President of a country for 4 years?

I would rater to choose the money and not power.
I'm only a small potatoes,(don't laugh at me ,most of us are this kind, yes?)and if I have 200 million dollars I think I can enjoy my rest life with my family ,but if I choose to be a presidend, the things will be not that good: I must become too busy to have time with my loved ones, because I had to deal with all kind of things in or out,and if I do something wrong ,I'll be scold by all the people in our country, but at home I'll be the president can scold anyone. LOL .so ,why not choose the hapless president?Though power can bring me money but the more is responsibility,I think I have no that ablity

Well of course it depends on your desire of course. If you desire to serve the people and your country then maybe becoming a president is more valuable to you. But if you desire for your own personal pleasure then it is just obvious that you will dream of becoming a lotto winner yourself.
In attaining your dream you should be working towards it to achieve it. Both can be attainable if your heart truly desires it.

I am not a political type of person nor am I an extrovert so I would rather be rich instead of becoming a president. Though being rich would likely give me power and influence, I would probably not use it but instead choose to live a quiet life and use my wealth to help others who are in need.

Interesting question and a tough choice too. Having a lot of money from the lottery would give me complete independence, yes, but after one has spent and invested, and given to some charities, there's not much else to do except simply building up that money. However, with very little deliberation (lol) I would rather be President for a variety of reasons.
As President, I would probably get a lottery size salary anyway, so I would not be short of money, neither in the post or when I leave it.
My day would be very varied as I wouldn't know what was going to call my attention next. So I could look forward to a very challenging life!i would have the authority to make decisions than can have real impact on my country.
Above all, I would have the power to influence an awful lot of things in the country, especially on a positive level, and be able to leave a kind of legacy when I go.
So, taking all that into consideration, it would have to be President for me! When can I be elected?:o)

I rather like to choose win the lottery.
To the common guys,I think they need both power and money, but if the money is enough to support the rest of his/her life ,I think this time power may no longer have its charming fascination.
why I choose $200million but not the president?
firstly ,the power can take me money but also obligation, why I get the money directly?
secondly ,I have no ability to be a good president.I'm afraid the people's scold.

The Lottery for me and I would NEVER ever ask to run for President; sorry. the way poor Obama is going, I feel for him; but somebody's gotta do it. That is definitely for sure. No, I'd take the money, beg for anonymity and keep on to my business.

Hi Ktosea, I would much rather win the lottery!! Being the president to me would be like losing the lottery. That is a job I truly would not like to have!! It is way too stressful and not too many people like you at the end. The travel and meeting all the people and having a private jet would be exciting, but I could do all that if I win the lottery.

I prefer to be 200 million dollar richer than be a President for four years. The duties and responsibility of a President is too much for me to handle. I don't want a stressful life. I don't want people to invade my life. I don't want to commit a mistake and a sin to the people. I want a quiet and peaceful life. With my 200 million dollars I can help others and I don't need to be a President nor a politician to help others.

I'd rather win in a lottery than be the President of a country. With the amount of money available I would be able to help people and/or support an organization with advocacy I am inclined to. Serving and helping people and society can be done without the politics and the publicity

I would rather win the lottery. I think that it would be impressive to be president, but you must imagine the strain on your life, both personal and otherwise, from being the president. Yeah, granted, winning the lottery can have the same affect, but only to a certain extent. When you are in the position of being the president, you have many people expecting many things from you...whereas having an extra 200 million dollars just means you can pay off your bills, save up, and be free of debts.
I mean, I'd even be happy with just 6 of those 200 million dollars. I could do everything that I need to right now: pay off my car loan, pay off all of my credit cards, remodel my house...and still have some left over, then I could put that amount into a savings account and watch it grow!
...sigh...too bad that's never going to happen...

Hope I'm posting this right, still trying to figure the site out. I would hire people to do some stuff for me, but not every little thing; and I'd love to pay them a really excellent salary- more than what somebody would usually get paid for doing that type of work.

The lottery pays more than being president. Besides the fact that I do not have the guts nor the intelligence or experience to be president (but I have been president of a few professional organizations), I would not want the stress associated with such an awesome job. I think you have to be partially nuts, too, to want such a job. LOL

don't know how much a president could acheive one year in other countries, but I heard that the US president could earn $400 thousand a year,so a president of 4 could also earn almost $200 thousand dollars I guess, but they have more duties which people don't will to take.

Hi there!
I would also choose winning the lottery.. To me being rich automatically would make me powerful. Being able to have everything I like is already power. Besides, I wouldn't dream of giving myself a headache by becoming a President hehe.
Ciao!

I would definitely rather have the $200 million. Being president is great for the people who can handle it, a group I don't belong to. That is way to much responsibility and stress for my tastes.

For me,i think i would rather win the lottery than becoming the president.Although being a president give you a sense of achievement if you do something good that help the citizen in their life, but the job is very stressful in my opinion and it requires alot of thinking. For example,my dad was telling me that president Obama have some strand of white hair just days of becoming the president. And so i would rather win the lottery and find a job that is easier than the president's.Happy MyLotting :D

I agree with you... very interesting question. My answer though is winning the lottery because it will give a chance not just to spend but try to invest my money better. As for being a President, well it's a very important role and it all depends what type of trouble the country would be going through. Some countries don't give the president's role as much importance as it is given in the Usa
