It's April 12 (Sunday) here in my country today and I just saw a commercial on Discovery Channel about their new documentary called "Biblical Mysteries Explained". From this link http://www.discoverychannel.co.uk/web/shows/biblical-mysteries-explained/ and I quote: "Biblical Mysteries Explained investigates two of the Bible's strangest mysteries: Exodus and Sodom & Gomorrah. The tales are miraculous and disturbing, but new discoveries in geology, archaeology, astronomy and climatology suggest these stories may actually refer to real events." I know this will be a documentary to refute the Bible. But even though I'm a Christian, I don't feel threatened by it. In fact, I find it interesting when science is trying to (either) prove or disprove the greatest book of all time. Well now it's disproving time! This show will be aired today (in my country) at 9pm. I will definitely watch this and see if my Christian faith will be shaken completely LOL.

Science and religion do not have to oppose each other, How else would G-D carry out his creation and make the "Intelligent" thinkers scratch their heads?

Do you realize that most scientists are believers? My Dad worked with the space program from its inception. I would say that at least 90% of the guys out at the space center believed in Hashem. Shalom

Really? According to the Bill Maher's documentary called "Religulous", it says that above 90% of American scientists are (either) atheists or agnostic?

If it is the same documentary that they just showed over here, it does not refute the Bible, it supports the Bible. Go ahead and watch the show. You will like it. It just proves that mother nature had a hand in G'd's work that is all. Shalom~Adoniah

Well I have to watch it to see if it supports or refute the Bible. Anyway, I want to ask why you spell God this way G'd I've heard that it's a Jewish practice but I don't really know what's the reason behind it. Educate me.

The correct way for a Jew to write G'd's name is Hashem,(the name) but most folks would not know who I was talking about. You never write Hashem's name someplace where it will be desecrated or destroyed. It is only written in the Siddur(prayer book), the Torah, and the Tanach(full Bible). But since most people do not understand Hashem we abbreviate his name to G'd. I think I will start using Hashem and let folks figure it out. Shalom

I understand. I heard (from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mcN5Z4ieks&feature=PlayList&p=A418086CE171DAC5&index=0&playnext=1 that most people in UK are already converting to atheism and agnosticism. I don't really know the reason behind it.

Every time man tries to dispute the Bible they come out on the bottom. I have seen shows like this before & every time man tries to prove the Bible is fiction he looses. Which I have faith & I believe what the Bible teaches. I only watch the shows for I know man is going to loose.

I have read explanations that actually supported some of the Biblical mysteries, like the parting of the Red Sea. Just because there is an earthly explanation does not mean that God was not in the miracle. I think it is interesting that there is historical support for these events.

I should say that Bible is more believable and factual rather than mysterious than Science and other discoveries.

I liked it and if we close our minds to possibilities, we will not grow. I never take the Bible at it's word as all fact. It is meant as a tool to teach lessons. I was raised Catholic and even as a young child, felt that some things in the Bible made no sense, but that did not make me a bad person. I still wanted to be a good girl. Anyone who does feel threatened, cannot have much faith in their own religion. It does not matter what others believe, only what you believe.

Does scientific explanations about so called mysteries debunk Biblical truths? I agree with some of the earlier posts that oftentimes, they don't. In the contrary, they only explained how things happened or possibly happened and strengthened a Biblical fact that it can indeed happen. In more often than not, it will become more clearer that somehow, someone or something caused things to converge and make a phenomenon take place. One example of scientific findings debunking or fortifying Biblical claim is the parting of the Red Sea during the Israelites' exodus from Egypt. Scientific explanation shared that the parting of the sea is possible if three or four known weather situations occurred at the same time in the area. Many said that the explanation solved the mystery and claim that it's not God work after all. But if we come to think more about this, are we not amazed how those weather conditions took place at the same time (though such possibility of such occurrence is almost nil) and on time that the Israelites were being pursued by the Egyptian army? I am with you in having an optimistic take about the Bible. I really believe that Scientific findings will just prove what's written in the Bible.

This should be interesting. I am also a Catholic. I guess this would stir up the interest of the masses just like when the Da Vinci Code came out. I was too afraid to watch it fearing that it may marred my faith but it didn't. Thanks for the info. I'd would love to see this.

The Da Vinci Code is awesome. So what if Jesus got married to Mary Magdalene and had a royal bloodline? Personally, I think there's nothing wrong with that. And oh yeah, you should watch Angels & Demons. I'm quite excited for that as well.

those sort of things are interesting. but i'm saying this not to disprespect any religious teaching. it's just that you can see man's ingenuity and imagination and determination to prove or disprove those things. there's even an interesting explanation for the 7 plagues of egypt. i just forgot all of those explanations but they are very, very interesting. hey, happy easter

I think the 7 plagues of Egypt is included in this documentary since it talks about the Exodus.

The mistery of the bible remains a mistery. No one can explain the document has been written in it. But if you where a kin observer, the words writen in the bible is the exact what happening to our world. From the history of world and each country how the conqueror conquer each city, the equipment, the day of events and discoveries gather by geologist, archeologist, astronomy and cliamatology historian are base on the bible. Even the life of each individual. From being single, to marriage life, in diciplining the children, from good and bad. It was written in the bible. But when science developed, because of this people who do not belives in God. They will opposed the words writen in the bible. And so the confusion start. This scientist belived that man came from a monkey. The milkyway is a from a big boom. But when you try to understand the bible. The start of mankind is from 1 person only. Then bcome 2 and then multiply. It never says that mankind start from a monkey. But many of us confuse because of different interpritation of every religion and science. And so until now what is writen in the bible is still a mystery.

I have watched this program and there is nothing against bible or Christians. I agree sometimes some discoveries are against some religions and this happens with every religion on earth. But this doesn't prove the religion is wrong.

I watched part of this too... What a joke ! How in the world can you call something a documentary without proof. Yes certain things can be explained that it all sound good, though the Bible itself is false. No one has proof to the words written in the bible and every religion takes a different part of it as the word. Believe in god that's fine ,though know that every church you go to is going to preach it differently. Science does clear some of the mysteries up. But as far as God goes ,the jury is still out.

There are so many stories in the Bible that have actually got archeological data to back them up these days. I've discovered some great stuff in the last couple of years doing my own little research into the whole deal. When I get home I'm going to go through my bookshelf and next time I get online I'll come back here and give you some other books to look at. There's quite alot of neat information out there these days. The new technology is amazing and there are new discoveries about things that have been found and studied already that just make you really think. I've had a wonderful time looking into it.

am not sure whether i should believe such facts. but what ever they discovered down there would let even bother with my faith. you should have told us the channel so that i could check when is it going to air in my country. your faith could be shaken if proven that Jesus was human but that kind of discovery is also an enlightenment that the bible wasn't always symbolic.

I love to watch this show. I just hope I can download this one through the net. Or if any of you knows where to watch this in streaming form? I really am interested in watching anything regarding the bible. Not that I am an atheist, but just to find out if those things really did happen.
