I filed my taxes online and it wasn't hard. I used Turbo tax and if you mess up they have all sorts of checks and balances to make sure it's right before you submit it. HOWEVER... It also wasn't free. Not to say that it wouldn't be for you, but my husband is on a 1099, and that automatically costs money and then we filed our state taxes through them as well and they charge for that. In addition when I entered into have my return direct deposited, they take a little off the top as a sort of convenience fee. All in all it was a good experience, took less than an hour while watching TV and we got our return in a week. Even though it wasn't free, it was way cheaper than paying an accountant.

I use TurboTax.
There is always a fee to do it online though. I don't remember how much I had to pay.
I found it pretty easy to follow.

No, no, no. Never. I havn't filed any taxes in my life online. In fact I am not earning that much that I need to file my income taxes. I have to show only that I am earning something and that I used to do by visiting the offices.
I hope this year, I can earn that much that I can file some taxes to govt.
I think only income tax is the one which you need to file, if you are in a service.

For me, I have never ever tried to filed my taxes online. Because our Government in my country does not offer to filed the taxes online. or they do have a form online but they do not broadcast it to the public so thats why many or all of us dont filled taxes online.

I don't know if it's possible to fine Canadian taxes on line, but my American husband filed his on line, and had no problems. He's going to get a nice refund...unlike myself. AARRGGHH!!! I'm not getting a damned refund this year. Stupid Canada Revenue Agency!!! DANG IT ALL!

My husband had no problem filing his taxes on line. He even managed to do it with the old dinosauer of a computer that we were using back in April, because both of our computers happened to crap out on the same day. LOL He omited a small piece of information, and they were sent back, but since he made his first attempt before the deadline, they allowed him to re-submit them (by this time we had a better computer) and all went through just perfectly!!

I used to use Turbo Tax all the time. It's a great program and if your income is below a certain level, the Federal return is free - you have to pay for the state though. There is a way to get around that... or there used to be, I don't know if it's changed or not. If you go through the whole process, see if there's an option to VIEW your state return. If there is, you can copy that information onto the paper state forms and mail it in - for the cost of a stamp instead of the $15 or so that you'd pay online. I don't know if it still works that way, but if it does, that's the cheapest route to go.
I actually use the professional version of Turbo Tax in our firm and am very happy with the company that makes it. Just be careful in answering the questions, sometimes you think you know the answer but they're really asking you something else.
Good luck!

I have never filed my taxes online but I did it for my sister before. Some of it was confusing. We used the H&R Block online site. If possible, you can fill out while talking to their tax person on the phone and they will walk you through it if you have questions.

If you go to irs.gov and pick free file, the free version of Turbo Tax is one of the available options. I used the free version to do taxes for a neighbor and it is rally good. It walks you through every step and lets you know what all the available deductions are. I will be using it to file my own as well.

I have done my taxes and my kids taxes online for several years now. I use turbo tax but beware that free doesn't mean completely free. There is almost always a charge for something somewhere. You are best off to go to the irs.gov site to follow their links to get the free version. If you don't go through their site, you will owe a good amount of money. It is very easy. Do what it tells you to do. Answer all the questions that it asks and it will do all the math for you.

Hi, I live in Australia and our tax system would be very different here I am sure, so I probably cannot help you out much. But to answer your question, I have done my taxes online for the past 3 or so years via an Australian taxation site which makes it a lot easier than filing with the ATO our equivalent of IRS).
