I bought a refurbished laptop on eBay a few months ago, it was Dell and I really loved it. However after a month it started giving me trouble, first the windows was not starting, I have to restarted several times, than it just didn't switch on any more. The bulbs switch on, however the computer does not run, I told the buyer and told me to phone them. However I find it injustice that I have to also increase telephone expenses, he didn't want to reply to me by email. I took the laptop to a technician, who at first told me that it may be the ram who broke up. However he checked the ram and it works, but the laptop doesn't switch on, he still is trying to fix it up. Well I know I should have phoned however I think I still have rights, since I already spend money on a useless laptop which should have been a good laptop. What do you think do I have rights, anyone knows what could have happened to this laptop, please help me??

There are international laws which protect the customers. You should have consulted the local consumers protection office for advice. I find it unfair to be treated like that. I would make sure to write a negative feedback on his account so that other customers would be warned before they try to buy from his online shop.

Oh!!! God!!I am really very sorry to hear this. You should consult a good technician. Do you have a warranty card??? Then it will be better to consult a company technician.
This is the reason why I don't buy a laptop. Its because in our town we don't have a technician to fix it up,if it doesn't work.

Maybe its motherboard is not working. If the motherboard gets damage then it will be a total loss. Have you tried to tell your computer technician to reset its CMOS battery. Can you hear its one beep after pressing the power button? If not, have tried to connect an lcd or crt monitor to the laptop to check if there is display in an external monitor to know that its laptop's lcd is damage.

That was really sad to hear.Didn't they give you any warranty? The seller must have replied to you about any expected troubles. Is there any possibility for the computer get worse during the transit? As a laptop consists of tender parts,it should have been transported with care.As I can see, this is a good old decision.Let me know what happened to your laptop then.

I hate laptops not because they are just slow but also because they are very sensitive to damage. I live in a college Hostel and many friends of mine who have bought laptops are not regretting it their acts. Everyday someone has a problem with windows or some hardware problem.
Always buy laptops it you are a traveler or you don't have space in your house for a desktop.
As in your case you can probably take the laptop to a dell Service center and request assistance though it may be a bit costly.

Well that is the disadvantage of buying a refurbished laptops because many times often this usually are not as good as the brand new ones. I really do not know what is the extent of the warranty of it since it is refurbished.
From what you describe it seems a hardware problem that is happening and not a software problem. It is a common problem with refurbished machines.
