He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Micah 6:8
King James Version
The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: To do what is just,to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.
Micah 6:8
Good News Translation.
Here the prophet Micah, hundreds of years before Jesus Christ was born, catches a glimpse of the way all people are all meant to behave. We can all learn much from this, especially the phrase,"to show constant love", which is the heartbeat of the teachings of Christ. I invite your comments.

People need to live in harmony ,but this is very hard
because so many countries are not respecting the rights
of others. We need to have constant love for our fellow
men ,but justice needs to prevail and we have an obligation
to rescue people from abusive situations. We need to help
those children in Africa who are starving and we need to
eliminate corruption and totalitarian governments.

My friend, every human being deserves freedom ,and their
basic human rights should never be violated. Of course, everyone
is different ,but freedom is the basic right of every person in
this planet. Every country should have free elections and let the
people decide. The goverment should be for the people and by the people.

I so agree with you about this. And anyway, understanding others and being tolerant is quite difficult when you see suffering and pain caused by other men. On the other hand, we have to try not to think that our way is the correct one and all the other ones are wrong.

No matter what faith of God you follow, (and even those with a Goddess or without any deity), the common thread is to show constant love or to look out for our fellow man.
It is unfortunate, in my thinking, that this is too often over shadowed by other issues.... woman's rights, fighting over who's right and who's wrong, greed, politics - too many issues, not enough love.
I have learned that getting back to basics (humble in our fellowship) and showing love (as constant as a human can) requires work as does every important part of living a good honest life. But it's also very worth it.

What you say is true... but you should go a step further. You mentioned women's rights. Why do women have to fight for their rights? Ask yourself why things happen. It's not just people not willing to give love... rather it's human nature: an instict to predominate over the others. And soon or later someone will be complaining because they feel oppressed by others, we also suffer the lack of freedom.

Hi savypat, Thank you for responding. Actually if you think about it, with the golden rule there is no need of the ten commandments, it really replaces them. It is the same here, love replaces all rules because if you love others you will do nothing to harm them. Blessings.

I think this was just a part of what God requires us. If we are going to examine the greatest commandment, God really requires to us our all-everything. It means that we are not the lord and king of our lives but Christ. And if we do surrender our all to God, then all of his commands must be done by us because that was the real meaning of Lordship.

Hello there! If we are to go back to the New Testament, Jesus squeezed the 10 commandments from the Old Testament into two which are,"Love the Lord your God with all you heart, mind, soul, and strength" and "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." with these, it is a great command of God for us to love without condition. Cheers!

I do agree whit you Pose123 the greatest of all commandments of God is to love one another...This is one of my purpose to share and to show love to all mankind may they be friends or foe. This might be a hard thing specially loving your enemies but if you want love.... then love you shall give....
Some may go to church always and still they dont leave by what has been preached still they hate, backbite keep grudges coz they thought that going to church regularly is what God requires all of to do.... but for me leaving through his commandments and share to all is what he wants....

I think the central point of this is that people, even trying to show constant love, do not feel love inside it. How many people talk about love, and even make some charity, but have only hate inside, and you can see it by their eyes. Love is not an mental issue, love is a feeling, it's just like falling in love for someone. You don't talk about it, or try to demonstrate it, you just fall in love, and this is a permanent state of the soul.
When someone have this permanent state of the soul about love other people, then we can say that this person is following the teachings of Christ.
