I was sick a few weeks ago and I am over it now thank Goodness! But, for some reason Every since I got sick I have been doing nothing but wanting to sleep. Now I am over the cold and feel right back to my old self other than wanting to sleep alot. Now I know I am not pregnant. I just can not seem to get enough sleep for some reason I am always really sleepy. I would love to know what is causing this. Is my Body trying to tell me something is still wrong or what! Any Ideals out there my fellow mylotters!

With things like the flu, it can take several weeks for the body to recover and be back to normal. I wouldn't worry too much unless this continues for a few more weeks, then I would see a doctor.

Hi sxrxnrr45601
I feel that you might have taken more medicines that still acts on you.
But anyhow you will certainly recover from it very soon.
If you feel sleepy in daytime, you might drink some hot coffee.
There is nothing to worry more about it.
Happy mylotting

I think you body is warnning you that he is not yet ready back to the real world again. Maybe this is you are subconscious want to get away from the work or something else. You need to force yourself to go outdoor, do some exercise might help you overcome the sleepy. Is it Spring or Autumn there, those two seasons will also make people feel tired and sleepy. Wish you all the best.

Hi, maybe you should visit your doctor or maybe you used to sleep a lot thats why your body was used to it. And now you have to make adjustments to overcome your sleeping habit. :)

Sleepiness is a sign that your body is recuperating from the sickness you just had. If you could do as much sleep as you could to have your body fully rested. I think over time this sleepiness should be over in time. Hopefully this would be over soon.

My first reaction is how you are handling your sleeping - are you going to bed at the same time? Do you have any caffeine during the late afternoon or evening? When is the last meal of the day for you? Have you gotten used to some medicine you were taking during your illness?
webmd.com is my favorite site for health information, until they modified their site that takes it forever to download their pages on dial up.
http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/important-sleep-habits
or if you have dialup,
http://www.sleephealth.com/ (participation in a sleep study?)
http://www.sleepandhealth.com (monthly journal - pdf format)
http://www.bettersleep.org/OnBetterSleep/sleep_health.asp (general information)
There is just too much variables that are not addressed for a specific answer.

Maybe you are anemic or have a thyroid problem? Either of those can make you feel sleepy all the time.

Hi, as you were sick, did you take medicine and all. It could from the medicine too for there are certain products that send send you sleep more than required. Another thing is that as you are still in your convulsing state so drowsiness is quite natural.
You need not worry, sleep when you feel like. Or see a competent doctor.

It's normal to feel tired and sleepy even 3 weeks after you recovered.
I bet nobody will believe you are sick if you can stay up till midnight surfing nets and posting to mylot. And just able to wake up at 6 am to go to work.
After all, the body just warded off the virus and bacteria and needs time to repair itself.

I know how awful it is.
Will drinking a lot of fruit juices help? When I was feeling as tired and sleepy after recovering from a flu, I did not have the appetite to eat, so I just survived on fruits and fruit juice.
I wonder if fruit juice works for you. Hope you recover soon.

sometimes resting is the best way to deal with being sick besides medication i know when i don't feel good i certainly don't feel like getting out of bed i would just like to hide under the covers and do nothing. give yourself sometime its probably your body's way of saying you still need your rest.

last year i had a bug like that and even though i had no symptoms any longer i was still exhausted. it takes a good six weeks for a viral bug to go away. unfortunately, there isnt much you can do except rest as much as you can. it will go away eventually.
for me, i woke up one morning and felt better - it was like someone switched a light switch.

a while back I posted a similar discussion. The difference being that I had not been sick at all. I just went thru a spell where all I wanted to do was to sleep. I could not seem to get enough regardless of how much I slept. I seriously thought something was wrong with me as it was so out of the ordinary. I went with it and just slept as much as I could and whatever it was...it went away in about 3 days. I normally am quite hyper and don't require much sleep so this really was weird to me. I am guessing that my body just needed the break ...don't know. It went away. If it goes on for more than a few days, you should see someone. It could be a thyroid problem or something.

Wow, I was just sitting here thinking the same thing..Why am I so tired? I feel like I could just close my eyes and fall asleep!
I wouldn't much worry about your fatigue right at this time though, it sounds like your body is just trying to catch back up and get back on track from when you were sick. A lot of the times when you come down with a sickness your body becomes weaker and then once you get better your body still needs a bit of time to get back on the schedule.
It is almost the same as say you stay up late for a few nights in a row, once you try to get back to wanting to go to bed early your body has become used to staying up late so then you have a hard time getting to sleep.
I would give it a few more days and see if your not back to being awake longer but in that time I would try to stay awake no matter how tired you get that way you don't get used to taking naps either.

I was so uncomtiable I could not sleep . congrates and Good luck.

Well, some times people may feel more sleepy when they are recovering from certain illnesses. It is in fact good and expedite the healing. Further more due to illness you might have changed your normal sleeping pattern. Such may also leads to this type of feeling. Finally, some times when you are treated for certain illnesses your main symptoms such as fever and body aches might disappear before you actually recovered from the disease completely.Such situations also can give this type of a feeling. Better to meet your doctor if it will not settle in few days.
