I have been quiet for the last couple days on mylot because I have been feeling not so well, I got a sore throat last weekend and ended up with a cold. My nose is blowin glike crazy and I cannot taste the flavor of the food, what even worse is my ear is "deaf" sometimes like you cannot hear very clear, feels like a layer... and my whole entire body is very very tired...
I try to drink lots of orange juice and hot water, hope it helps because I never get well by not seeing a doctor.
What do you usualy do to help when you are sick?

Hi mermaid...sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I think you should keep doing what you're doing - lots of orange juice, tea, hot soup. If you can, rest also. That always helps. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.

I rarely go to doctor. When i am sick, i will always try to take a rest at home, not doing anything for a while, just laying on the bed and relax myself. I also do the same thing with you, drink orange juice, and warm water. I usually eat warm soup or porridge. But sometimes when my condition is getting worse, then i have no choice i will take some medicines or go to doctor.

I don't get sick a lot but when I do I try to stay indoors and if I go out I try to wear proper clothes. My mother helps me when I'm sick because she makes me tea and food that sick people eat:))
Going to the doctor is not an option for me.I only do that in I absolutely need it.They always have the habit of complicating things.Mostly I get well by myself but when I really need it I have to go to the hospital.
Health is the most important thing. We have to take care of ourselves.
I hope you get well soon...

Me too in your team ..... I don't see a doctor until and unless something is very serious. For a normal cough and cold and passing flu type of illness I would generally take some cough syrup or a paracetamol and be again up to full potential within a day or two. If it extends beyond then I kind of get a little worried. Otherwise I see doctors rarely. Two good things that help me during cough and cold especially are taking a spoonful of honey with a leaf or two of the "Holy Basil" early in the morning as soon a I get up and I add lemon instead of milk in hot tea and sip it slowly. It helps for me.

most of the time i make sure that whenever im unwell i drink a lot of water, because water helps me to get rid of all the unwanted things from the body and it is among the best and safest medicine, that i ever like to use when i am sick.

Hello mermaidivy,
Oh, poor you! Why don't you go and see a doctor? You won't get better if you don't see one unless you try some traditional ways to cure your illness. As for me, I always 'postpone' my trip to see the doctor but when thing gets from bad to worse, I will quickly go and get some rest after that.

come to think of it , I haven't been to the doctor's for the past 6 years. This does not mean that I did not get sick but when I did amd was down with fever or cough or cold, I just rested, slept a lot, took Amway Nutrilite Bio C Plus 1000mg four hourly and drank plenty of plain purified water. It still works still today - this remedy for my husband and me. We also watch our diet so as not to fall sick...going to the doctor's is very costly nowadays...so we take a lot of health supplements to boost our immune system every day. But for me I think the key is when our body shows symptoms of on coming flu or tiredness, we just need to drop what we are doing and go to bed and have a good sleep. A good sleep does wonders !

I do not get sick very often but when i do i drink plenty of water and i still make sure that i get my exercise in. I also take a good multi-Vitamin.
What i did was to change my diet..I stay away from processed food, or anything that has high fructose corn syrup, or crystalline fructose in it. I drink plenty of water, i exercise everyday by either walking, or dancing, or rebounding ( its bouncing on a small trampoline) I would say that about 90% of what we eat is organic. I keep my colon cleaned out, by doing a color cleanse 4 times a year, and i also supplement with extra fiber (Salba). I also supplement my diet with a few other things, because even if you eat the right kind of foods it is hard to get what you need. Get plenty of sunshine every day because it helps keep your Vitamin D levels up. If i cant get in the sun because of the weather i take a vitamin D3. Plus i do a number of other things.

I don't go to a doctor unless it is absolutely necessary. In the UK they discourage people from going to the doctor if they have a cold, because the best treatment is staying at home, resting, taking Paracetamol if you are feverish, and drinking honey and lemon for the sore throat. Drinking plenty of fluids is important also.

Well despite all the warnings and advices from people saying it's not good to use your sibling's or family member's medication i still use them. I mean when i get sick, most of the time, it's just the common cas of the flu and i think i have a pretty basic knowledge about medicine to know that all of us take the same flu medicine, so i guess the warning's suppose to mean to the other types of medicine especially when you get a different kind of sickness..Most of the time i don't visit the dctor unless it's a serious case of the flu or cough...that sorta thing.. ^_^

well, when I'm sick, I'll try to take a rest at home, not doing anything. Just drink warm water and maybe some multivitamin too. Just relax yourself, but if it doesn't work, you have no choice.. take some medicine or go to the doctor, get well soon..
