Can't Deny It Any Longer - I'm Sick

Moms don't get to take sick days, but I'm sick nonetheless. I feel HORRIBLE! I found a tick on me Thursday night, started feeling crappy on Sunday and have been running a fever since Monday. I'm also coughing and sneezing like crazy and my back feels like it's got real bad sunburn. I actually dragged my sorry carcass to a Doctor this morning and was prescribed 21 days of Doxycycline antibiotics and some other stuff for my symptoms. They can't test for tick diseases for a few weeks, but since I live in the Lyme disease capital of the world, and already have symptoms,they put me on the treatment. I REALLY wanted to go to a Tea Party this evening, but I used up my babysitting relatives to get to the Dr. this morning, and I am too sick to really be much use to anybody right now. Plus, if it's simply an upper respiratory infection, I don't want to contaminate anybody. So I'll be home, feeling crappy. I don't generally react well to antibiotics, I'm allergic to most, so the stuff that's gonna make me better may make me feel even sicker for a while. LOL
If I am not on the lot much for a while, you now know why. But I can't stay away from this place, I'll probably be here anyway, since I am too damned sick to sleep right now.
What do you like to do to feel better when you're really sick?

I am home alone with a four year old who at this moment is having a mega tantrum, and a 19 month old who likes to "paint" the furniture with his milk bottle. No rest for me! ![](/Content/images/emotes/sad.gif)

She is pitching an unusually bad hissy so I tried yelling at her, but I lost my stinking voice! I told her to stay in her room until she can behave like a human being. Maybe she'll take a nap, she's SUPER cranky because I woke her up early this morning and dragged her straight out of bed to Grandma's so I could get to my Dr. Appointment.

Sorry to hear you feel like crap and yes I know how lousier antibiotics can make one feel, but at least you have them. I took one antibiotic one time and spent the next first four days sitting on the throne crapping my brains out. Couldn't go out as I was afraid of getting the sudden urge to shat. I had never reacted to an antibiotic like that before. When I complained to my doctor he said "oh, that's normal, it means it's working" LOVELY
Well when I'm sick I continue to do what I always do...work in front of my computer. I'm NOT the type to take it easy, which would probably be smarter. It could be a hangover reaction to when I was a kid, and one time I was so sick from the flu I was sick for nearly 6 months..I'd get a bit better, go back to school, wham get a relapse..I wound up spending most of my time in bed and hated it..I'm just not used to relaxing even to this day..so for me when I get sick...life goes on

Be sure to take those antibiotics and I hope you are well soon. It sounds like you could have gotten Lyme Disease. My oldest daughter has been diagnosised with chronic neurological Lyme Disease and she has battled with some real health issues since then as we didn't catch it for a long time. I am glad that yours has been caught early.
How long do you have to wait to be tested? Please have it done.

Hi MSV: Yeah those nasty ticks can really wreak havoc on our bodies especially those of us who are dealing with so many other health problems and such;
I've taken Doxycycline antibiotics before but could only tolerate them for like a day or two but hopefully your body will be able to tolerate it better;
hope you feel better soon, try to rest later if you can;

I've never had to take them for a prolonged period before, lets hope I can tolerate it! Now I'm just trying to figure out how to time taking it, twice daily on an empty stomach and hours away form the antacids I live on. I hate math.

To answer your question, I just lay around and groan.
Now, to you. I'm so sorry that you're sick and I do hope that you feel better soon and that you don't have any problems with the antibiotics. Be sure that the doctor tests for lyme at some point. My stepdaughter and some of the other members of her family are all dealing with the co-infections that piggyback with lyme. She has heart issues because she was untreated for so long. At one point she had an IV running straight into her heart to deliver the antibiotics she needed. So, don't let your guard down once you're feeling better. I'm sure you know all of this already but I had to say it anyway. I'll add your quick return to health to my prayers. Feel better soon! ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

It's really hard for us mothers when we get sick especially if you two are the only one in the house. Just take your medicines on time. Take a good rest.
When I am sick I just listen to my favorite songs and it makes me feel better. I also watch my favorite tv programs.
Hope you get well real soon. God bless you!!!

I feel for you! it must be horrible especially since you don't take to antibiotics well, when I feel sick I usually read more - on the topic that is ailing me but that can be a double edged sword. I usually end up worrying or fretting more over something I have no control over or questioning the doctor's credentials lol - then sometimes I think it's our bodies way of telling us we need a break, relax and do nothing for a while which I know is impossible as a mother. Feel better soon, and I hope the worst is over - better days are ahead!
