First, I would like to ask apologies to those who have responded to my post, I am not good with rating best responses and decided lately that I wouldnt give one but for a very rare instance of giving the BR to all responder, I simply give a positive rating though.
Do you still give BR to your started discussions lately ? How long does it take for you to give the BR ? Would it be fine for you if the discussion was not being rated or you not being chosen with the Best response rate ?

Like you I love receiving a best response. I have had people comment on the responses of others, and have felt they should get best response, but in that case you cannot give them since it is a comment. You may or may not have noticed that you earn for marking a best response.

Is that true ? I mean is it true that we earn if we are rated with the best response ? If that's the case, I think I would rate my discussions then.

That's okay. We understand.^_^ I do give best responses on my discussions. The only problem is that I dont have the time to pore over the last few discussions that I started to give the award. Im already months behind awarding BR to some of my discussions but rest assured that I will get to it when I have the time.^_^ I do know what you mean though, there are just those times that there are more than one responses that could be awarded the best response because of certain points they made. And there is also the possibility of new responses coming in whether the discussion is a year old.
Anyway, rating for me would be automatic. I mean its been a habit of mine to rate positive on the discussion that I responded to, if my response was commented on, and I rate almost all positive on responses given on my started discussions(would love to rate them all positive but there was an incident of a derogatory response that caused my discussion to be deleted.)
Well, I dont mind not being given a rating or a best response, same as if my discussions wont get any rating, as long as I enjoyed starting the discussion and responding to others' discussions.

Thats relieving dear bj, thanks for understanding as well... but guess what through this discussion I was able to learn that I need to give BR at times, cause it pleases mylotters as well.. that I wasn't able to see.. too bad.

I will still give a best response, but I do not have a time schedule and I find it hard to decide what one is the best and as for when, it depends on how many responses I get. I will always give a plus (rarely a minus unless they are particularly nasty) and I would be very upset if my discussion was not rated. If it was an accident, I can accept that, but if there was someone who said "I will not rate anyone unless it was up to my high ideals of perfection," I would not like that.
It does not matter to me about the best response, as I have gotten quite a few, but I guess with someone who never received one, it would matter.

I am rethinking of rating the 'unresolved' discussions one these days, sigh, just like yourself, I need to time schedule for that.

I think awarding a BR is an art and with time I have learnt this art. I am also not very good at awarding them to my responders but now I have started giving more than usual. today I have awarded two of them, yesterday two of them.
My criteria of awarding a bR is that you must touch my heart from your response. It may not be a funny one or may not be a strong supporter response. If you see my discussions I have awarded those who were against me but still got the award because I thought the quality was there and the response touched my heart.

It never occur to me that giving away BR's is an art sanuanu but the idea of being able to touch the heart of the starter makes sense to me.

Hi torch...I do rate all the responses to my discussions and then I give out a best response. I usually wait at least 2 weeks so people have some time before I make a decision. I figure that if I like receiving best responses, so do other people, so why not do it?

Its not that I am depriving mylotters of giving the BR but I am just so sluggish with stuff like those. Waiting for two weeks is a good choice deejean, it allows more people a chance to respond and determine the best responder !

Thats wonderful to know deviander, just like you I am giving them also before but when I reached more than thousand posts, I had a difficulty of deciding which one should I rate, sometimes I am lazy to rate them due to limited time online.

It is okay with me to not receive a best response, but I want to point out to you that you earn for awarding a best response. I like to look for whoever has understood the spirit of my discussion best and give them best response. My "official" policy is to clear all discussions at least once a month. I did goof up and go four months without at one time. The other thing is, I will not start new discussions until I have resolved my old ones.

Of late I am going bit sluggish on marking the best response. I have been getting extremely good responses and that perhaps making things difficult for me. So I am procrastinating. And I rate all positive who respond to mine irrespective of oneliners.
How are you dong torcha?

Honestly it has been awhile since I have started a discussion. I should probably try to do that sometime. However, when I start a discussion I am usually more interested in what the person is saying more so that who is more convincing on the topic.

Hello torchablazed,
I still give BR to my discussions but it won't be too soon. Normally I will only give BR after I am sure there is no more responses for that discussion after a certain period of time. I will re-read all the responses that I got and mark the BR to whoever that I think gave me a good response. I always give positive rating for all the responses right after I read them.

I do mark the Best Response for all my discussions. There are some discussions where I have not marked the BR for quite a few months but will sit one day to finish off the ratings. I do not mind if I am not chosen for the Best response but am satisfied with what I have replied.

Hi torch, that's no problem not giveing BR's am sure others here will understand, yes I do give BR's to people but most times it depends on the discussion..there are some-in my case- that don't need a BR as all comments have been helpful, unless of course there is one that stands out from all the rest...littleowl

I am with you little owl, most of these comments are indeed very helpful in such a way, I find it hard to decide as to who would be the best responder among them. Although, I have realized in posting this that there are mylotters who value giving away the BR.

I am so busy with myLot and writing that I don't really have the time to choose BR. I think the last time I went through all my discussions and did it was about 9 months ago! I do, however, "+" everyone who responds and when I reply to a discussion I "+" everyone I can that has responded.

When ever I get enough to compare. I do rate all my replies positive. If I get one I don't think is positive I wont rate it negative, but leave it unrated. That way my opinion won't affect the responders rating. I have gotten negative ratings and don't understand why. So, now I just don't worry about my ratings. People are going to do what they do no matter what.

Yes, I do give a Best Response, but I haven't started many discussions and not many people respond to them - so it's easy! I usually wait about three months before doing it, though - by then I figure nobody else is going to reply. I make sure I give positive ratings to anyone who's kind enough to respond.
