Do you dress for the occasion?

What if the worker is better dressed than the supe - What if the worker is better dressed than the supervisor?

I feel, appearance is very important. It is the first impression the other person makes of us at first glance. It's important that we dress right for the right place and occasion. We all have a choice of how we want to present ourselves before society, either to fit in or to make a difference. Some would deny but cannot ignore it altogether. How important is appearance - hairstyle, dress code, deportment to you?

Yes i would. It is important, but having said that i would not go to extremes so as to get too much attention to my dress sense. While at official functions it would be a formal dress code with a tie. If the gathering called for a suit or a blazer, then i would go with what i deem suitable with the occassion. While at other social gatherings, marriages and such functions I would choose an appropriate yet simple dressing style. Otherwise on most times it's simple and i would go by what makes me feel comfortable. Appearance to me Mimpi is more about being comfortable and being what i conside presentable. I certainly would not want people raising eyebrows at my appearance. The part where you mention that some deny... I have come across some who say that they do not. But they would dress very casually for formal events. In reality it was thier dressing sense and it was important to them.

In certain instances not only does it become important to me, but also important when i see others dressing inapporpriately, especially in the office in terms of footwear and fluorscent choice of colours. I get the urge to give them some advice.

Its important that we dress right and also in something in which we are comfortable in. I would not wear an off shoulder gowns for I look awful in it but there are other party gowns that make me look slicker and nice.

Now I know why I always feel that I am being watched. I feel like the Will Smith of 'Enemy of the State' who is under constant surveillance by the Federal Government.

I think you are absolutely correct that appearance or the looks matter a lot. You should always be well dressed for the occassion. A good appearance has a lot more to say than the words. It is always advisable to good looking but I actually can not dress very well and according to the occassion everytime. When there is some party or special occasion, then I try and dress up well otherwise I am least bothered about my appearence.

If I'm at home, then I'm very relaxed about how I dress, but if I'm at work or out and about, then I do wish to look as presentable as possible. Especially if I have meetings. In a position such as my own, it's extremely important for me to set an example, so I won't even wear casual clothes on set casual days for all other staff.

Hello mimpi. It is true that appearance is of great importance to us, especially when we meet someone for the first time. I believe that the first impression is very important and I always try to make myself look good when I have to meet someone on some special occasions, whether it is the first time or not. I always try to make myself look good on Monday when we colleagues see each other after the weekend...

On a scale of 1 to 10 appearance might be a 2 for me, but deportment is a 10. How one acts is a much different issue from what one wears. I don't like to fit in slavishly. But I do believe in good manners.

Hi mimpi! I do dress for the occasion. I am mostly casual but if I'm invited to a function I always find out what is appropriate to wear. I like getting dressed up sometimes too and it gives me a good reason..lol.

Yes, if I am going to attend an important gathering, I will dress. However, usually I will not do that. I just wear in my usual style. It is so boring to dress everyday. So I just do that when I need to. I do believe a lot of girls like to dress before they go out. Then usually take the mirror with them.

Dressing right for the occasion is very important. As the OP said, it can make you or break you in an interview. Not only the interview, but your career will be better off in general if you are professional in dress. I am the type, as far as regular dress, I do not want to stand out. I try to be low key and dress my age. I have seen some interesting and shocking dress from some girls and women, usually not the best look if you want someone take you seriously.

I agree 100%, one's dress scence matters a lot. Most people tend to judge one based on how one dresses. Appearance of clothing, hair and even smell go a long way in potraying ourselves to others.

For me yes my friend, not only for our own appearance but also on how it will reflect on our own personality. Being presentable doesn't mean you have to wear expensive clothes or you have to went to the beauty parlor to be beautiful just being so simple and be appropriate to the occasion is fine.

Hi, mimpi1911! It is very important to me to dress for an occasion, especially of it is an formal celebration. I would want to blend in with the crowd. Wearing clothing that is out of the circle can be embarassing. I would like to wear the right outfit with the appropriate occasion.

Hi mimpi! I think to make the most of your appearance determines how much you care for yourself; I’m not talking about vanity but pride in oneself. I like to look as nice as possible for whatever the occasion. Even when I am just taking my daughter to school I like to look neat and tidy even if I am just wearing sweat pants and a t shirt. I am not a fashion follower I just like to wear what I like and what suits me whether it's the latest thing or not. As far as my hairstyle goes; I've had the same for years and I am unlikely to change at this stage; I have very long straight hair. I don't think I like to blend in or stand out really; I just want to feel comfortable!

you don't have a second chance to make a first impression....so if you are'nt aware of how you are gonna dress to the occasion.....i opine that you hav'nt learned to dress at all......

I agree with you.... For me dressing sense is important, but still I like to dress with clothes I feel comfortable with.... So I do not give extreme importance to it.... Okay I agree with you that its the first impression for the person who is looking at you...but still your attitude and passion represent you the most while talking to that person... Still first impression lasts long......So we cannot just ignore it altogether.... ~Cheerio~
