Too Good To Last, Maggie's Having Trouble Today

My Maggie is having like mini episodes today, not as alarming as what happened over the weekend, but I can tell it's taking a toll on her. She's very tired, and laying quite still on the floor now, I have to look closely to see she's still breathing. My poor girl, I think her time is coming soon to rejoin my father, her best friend, on the other side. I hope that if and when she goes, she'll go easy. I love my dog and my heart is breaking, I don't want her to leave me, but even more than that, I don't want her to suffer. I'll keep you all posted, whatever happens. Thank you to everyone who has been following my story and for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers, They mean a lot to me.

Darlin' You and Maggie are in my thoughts. If it is her time may her crossing be easy. And may you continue to think of her playing with your dad. That will ease things just a bit I think. Take care and know your friends hold you in their thoughts and hearts.

My mom is coming up to visit tomorrow, I have a feeling Maggie may just be hanging on so she can say goodbye to her. She was my Dad's dog, and when he passed away, my mom couldn't stand to be here anymore without him, so she moved back to Long Island but Maggie stayed here with me, since we have all the land for the dogs to frolic on. She is still getting up to find me in whatever room I'm in, but just lays down heavily and is so still now, my poor girl is just so tired...

Apparently we've been given another reprieve. I don't know what is going on, but my dog is acting normal again.

Oh, my, I'm sorry Maggie's had a relapse again, but I did read you're later responses of how she perked up again after taking a poop. LOL. Still this must be agony for you not knowing. My thoughts and prayers are still with Maggie.....and of course for you

I lost My Lil Girl to cancer, an 8 year old Bouvier female. I had her a little to long I think. She had a hard time placing her rear leg down , bone cancer. I really cared 4 her , that's why i didn't let her suffer any longer... Remember luv your dog they will always luv u.. with u or in the future.

Hang in there. I am glad Maggie is a little better. I bet you are right that she wants to see your mom again. I pray that she goes peacefully when the time comes and does not suffer until then. Enjoy what time you have left with her. I will keep you and Maggie in my prayers.

I'm so sorry, MSV...I was hoping that Maggie's good days would continue. The fact that these latest episodes are smaller may be a good sign so don't give up hope. This is a long shot, I know, but you mentioned before that Maggie has allergies which is why she eats a special dog food. Is it possible that something in your yard is causing her problem? Any new plantlife where she walks? Has any lawn food or weed killer/prevention been put on the ground anywhere? You both are in my thoughts and prayers...and I hope you're feeling a little bit better today.

We don't use weed killer or fertilizer, but maybe just springtime is giving her trouble, it's sneezin' season, after all. I hadn't thought of that before. I am not giving up hope, I won't give up on her so long as she breathes becasue she has never given up on any of us, but I have a feeling that the end is near. At least she DID have a few great days, maybe she'll get another reprieve, I don't know. Thanks for your kind thoughts and words.

Well, she came back to me again, tail wagging and smile returned. I don't know how long it will last, but I'll take what I can get. Every time I think it's the end, I feel that all the prayers for her are being heard because she becomes good as new as if somebody flipped a switch. Thank you so much.

Hi AngryKittyMSV! I am so sorry for Maggie! Please know that my heart goes out to you and I will be praying for you! I will be praying for you. I have been there, myself. I was raised on a farm and I've had to deal with sick animals a lot in my life. I have been a member of mylot for about a month, now, but keep me posted on how she's doing. Kathy.

I'm so sorry about Maggie. I remember when my dog pasta began gettin on in his years. I was only 13 at the time so it was hard for me to understand what was happening to my best friend. He began having trouble doing the simplest things like walking up and down the stairs and moving around in general. One night i knew it was his time and when he did pass away i honestly flt it in my heart. It was really hard and i feel for you. You two will be in my thoughts all day!
