Since the economy started it's decline We cut out going to the movies, drinking beer, smoking cigs, and dropped the satellite Tv...now we spend much more time as a family, riding horses, fishing, hiking, going to the park, playing more board games together & eating our meals together as a family? what have YOU done differently?

I recycle almost everything, specially to cut out in clothes. I transform leftovers in other dishes that sometimes are better than the first ones. I stopped going to the hairdresser and learnt to dye my hair by myself (it´s very easy, once you learn). I stopped smoking and drink tap water or homemake juices except with company. I make all my meals from scratch.

The economic slow down and recession has affected each family to varying extent. There has been large scale reporting of cost-cutting by most of the families everywhere. It is undoubtedly important to limit the family budget and control cost. But equally important is to enlarge the area and potential of one's earning by exploring new opportunities. There are many families who have been able to maintain stability and balance in their family life even in this difficult time.Thanks.

We have cut way back on going out to eat. We also eat more leftovers than before. I have even quit eating cereal for breakfast and just have a bagel or english muffin. I can buy that plus jam for less than half the cost of cereal and milk. I have also quit purchasing books, just go to the library now. Mostly what we spend is for groceries and and gas to get to and from work. Spend more time doing free things as a family.
