I would say first of all, have good product that people want. Write a clear description of what exactly you are selling and add some clean pictures of the product. Be clear with the shipping terms. Answer any questions a potential buyer might have. Always communicate with the buyer at all stages of the transaction. If at any stage there is a problem, first try to resolve the problem without reporting it to EBay, most of the time things can be resolved between the buyer and seller.
Leave good feedback for the buyer and they will do the same. The feedback system is the lifeblood of any seller.
Hope that is of help

I have not sold on ebay myself but have been using Ebay for seven years. I buy stuff on ebay that I will resell at a later date. I have run two friends ebay stores for a two years. I know most of the workings of the site, so if you have any other questions, do feel free to ask. If I do not know the answer, I will get back to you with the info.

one of my biggest tips is don't overcharge on shipping! alot of people list an item for 0.01 and have 19.99 shipping, they basically overcharge shipping because you don't get fees for shipping only for the item you are selling, i always offer my customers the lowest shipping possible

fit4lifein07, your right must of the ebay seller they do like that, because the sell are very less & to get more customers they do like that, most of the times item we list didn't sell then seller need to pay from his own pocket without earning any profit...

well i have no idea how to be the best seller, but as buyer, i will become loyal customer to seller who have most wanted item, good communication skills and deliver item in short period of time.if you have that you will have lot's of loyal customer and will make lot's of profit in that way..because this loyal customer will definitely recommend you to his friend or family member..eventually your reputation become higher and more customer will coming to your way!
another things to be reminded always do business sincerely because once you do one mistake, that can bring to your downfalls..i know i did just that, once seller never ship item to my home, although she already refund the money,i have no interest to make business with her again..

Describe the itme completely buyers love to know exactly what they are bidding on. Also have a good picture. More than one isnt always needed if one is done well. Don't buy into all the extras when doing the listing sometimes simple listing is best. Another thing I learned Capatalize all the letters in your title. It catches the eye more and then you dont have to add all extras to get your add noticed. I also was told that sundays are a big selling day on ebay so i try have my listings end Sunday nights or monday I get alot of bids on Sunday evenings The listings I had end in the middle of the week don't do as well. And lastly Just have fun. Its fun to see that first bid on something you listed.

Hi!
I sell on Ebay for 3 years now and I love it. You should start with your own stuff from around the house. Take a photo( digital) upload to your computer and you are in business!. Brand Names sell the best. Your title is important as well as your description. Start your price as low as it makes sence to you, you shoudn't loose money( but if it's something you don't need any longer...)Ebay has tutorial, also see what other sellers do.Feel free to check my Ebay store, it may be useful
