it depends on the keyboard im using. sometimes keyboard which is not comfortable to use makes my typing slow. and if type something and then i look at the keys on keyboard, it affects my typing skill. i recently have 45 words per minute.. typing tutor helps me a lost because before i really am slow in typing words. even a single word would take me a lot of time typing.

you are right. It depend on individual' requirement to define speed of typing. If you are a mere typist, even 75-80 wpm is not enough for your employer. In India, for a government job typing 35 wpm is more than enough.
My typing speed was 60 wpm when i last bothered to calculate. But now I think this is because of my occupation. I type too fast. Let me tell you I did not get any typing classes in my school.

I would consider myself to be a very fast typist. I don't know exactly how many words per minute I can type , but I would imagine it would be quite a few. I learned how to type when I was in middle school and since then I've only gotten faster! I have been considering purchasing a netbook but am afraid it may slow down my typing speed due to the small keyboard. I do not want this to happen! I like being able to type fast.

I gree with xannebull. It's good you can type so fast. They didn't teach typing when I was in junior high. I didn't take typing till I was in senior high school. I think that's kind of strange. However, I grew up in a small town in Alabama. Also, that was back in the '60s. Kathy.

I was wondering what 'fast' meant in the world of typing. I took an exam to check and I got 75 wpm. Is that fast enough?
Oh well, one thing I could say though, is that when I do type, it's as if I'm talking. Perhaps that could mean that I type really fast and with more accuracy.
I guess it's because we were fortunate enough to have a typing class when we were in High school. I guess our school was the only one to give those classes for free in this new generation, and I'm glad I had the chance to do so.
Well, you could start learning to type faster though. There's nothing to it, you just need a lot of practice plus you just need to know the proper fingering of the keys so that you won't keep on looking at he keyboard when typing.
Good luck!

Hey there! My typing speed also depends on the keyboard I'm using. If I'm used to the keyboard, like in the office or here at home, I'd type around 70-80 WPM. If I'm using someone else's computer or a new keyboard, my typing speed goes down to around 50-60 WPM until I get comfortable with the keyboard.

You know, I thought that I was a fast typist, until I tried the Key For Cash evaluation test, which is based on speed. I was so disappointed in myself, I have tried and tried this test, and I cannot get a high enough score to get the job. I really am not the type of person to give up easily, but I must say, I gave up up on that test. I was so frustrated with myself, I just will not go back to the site again.

Haha, well i don't know if i would be considered as a fast typist because i haven't like took a typing test before or something...but i think i'm pretty fast (if i may say so myself) when it comes to typing, what more, i actually enjoy typing..^_^ I don't like place my hans correctly on the keyboard to find the words, it's just that i've gotten used to typing since i had been using the computer since wayyy back then, so i have no problems typing a paragraph in lest then 3 minutes...(i think)...lol ^_^

i guess i type fast too but with the use of only 5 fingers. i dropped my typing class before so i wasnt able to learn the homecasing. now have regrets. anyways, it doesn't matter as long as you type fast. im used to the five fingers already. anyways, im already familiar with the location of the letters in the keyboard. i also tried typing tutor.i recommend it.

I think it depends on the day, as well as the key board that I'm using. If it's a key board I'm not used to using, then I'll type more slowly than a key board, which I'm used to using. But there are days that I'll a little more slowly, even if it is a key board that I'm used to using, for some reason. I'm not entire sure why that is, but it just is the way it is.

I am pretty fast, but I could not tell you my actual speed. I haven't timed myself in quite a while. I still have to watch the keys at times, but am getting a lot better at being able to type without looking. I never really took a keyboarding class in school. The one I did take was very basic and I fell asleep in class every day. I have had to teach myself over the years, and I think that I am doing well.

Hello xannebull!!!!
Don't worry fren, If you keep on typing, and now you are already on mylot and sure you are going to type more and more, eventually your typing speed will be increasing on an on. And 45 words per minute is not the less typing speed. It is very nice...Well its been so long that I have stopped using typing tutor. But at that time I used to do it a lot especially for enjoying and also played lot of typing tutor games there. Mostly I got 55-60 words per minute. I don't know how much I can get now. Hopefully at about 60-65 words per minute....
Like you said, the type of keyboard i am using will also depend on my speed. I have not used to the typing in laptop so my typing in laptop is pretty slower than this. But if I started using lapted, I am confident that I will get my nice speed in it too in few days....]
Keep on mylotting, you don't need typing tutor at all....It's like killing two enemies with a single stone hehe.....have a nice time....

I guess I'm not a fast typist. I regularly mistyped letters with the letters near them. :) I don't even know the placements of the numbers in the keyboard as well, he he.

I type about 30-35 wpm. I have a typing program that I practice with every once in awhile. Because I hardly ever position my hands like their supposed to be. Once I started practicing with the program my skills went up of course.

I am not a fast typist even I had been go for the lesson of typing, but I am still slow and using my middles three fingers to type. A good keyboard is really help to speed up my typing too, because some keyboard will make your hand pain.

my friends tell me that I type really fast. but yeah, it definitely depends on the keyboard. I dont remember how many words per minute I can type, but according to an online test, I had 98% accuracy :)
I thought that was prettty cool.
but I type alot, (often), so Id say I type fast.
people make me type things for them, like if they need to recopy/type a story or something its always "heeey, wanna type it for me?"
:)
