My friend crashed into her son

She was driving down the hill and he was coming up the hill on his motor bike and she drove into him. How wierd is that? Once I knew that they were all right I was telling another friend what happened and was laughing at the coincidence until this friend reminded me that I should not laugh as, as far as she knew, I was the only person who had crashed into her husband and lived to tell the tale. She is right.
When I was learning to drive - practising reverse - somehow I sped off at high speed and hit my husband. The force of the blow threw him about 10 yards down the driveway. when he got up he was bleeding from cuts on his back. I won't repeat what he said.
I ended up in a field of bananas with the wheels still spinning. It was not funny at the time.
Have you ever hit a family member with a car whilst learning to drive or after learning to drive?

what was funny was that I had told the children to stay on the verandah whilst I practised. I even told them to stay there becuase 'Mummy may have a little acciden'. when it happened and there was silence I heard one son yell out "Can we come off the verandah Mummy now that you have had your little accident?" Of course it is now a family joke

Hey cynthiann! I swear woman you really should write a book!
It would definitely be a best seller and would also be quite
hilarious! You actually hit your husband with the car and
ended up in a banana field? You are just too funny! I am glad
that he wasn't hurt too badly or you for that matter! I'm
sure it is funny now, but I doubt it was funny then, or was
it? That poor woman hit her son! I'm sure he didn't think it
was funny either! You all have a sick sense of humor! My
mother used to laugh when someone got hurt too! She even laugher
when she fell down the steps and dislocated her shoulder! I
fell and dislocated my shoulder and I sure didn't laugh! It
hurt like hell!

No it wasn't so funny then. Bit now it is a fmaily joke amongst many others. I ended up still in reverse and I missed the garage and fertiliswer shed and as they were built of old cut stone then I would really have been in trouble. I pushed and pulklked everything on the car but didn't turn off the engine so it kept going. In the end, I pout my hands over me head and leant forward - in crash mode until the bananas stopped me! It was so funny. But I was scared when I saw him just lying there on the driveway. Tremendous relief when he got up - even though he was bleeding!

I've never hit anyone while driving! When I was seventeen and learning to drive, I was on the highway and I was supposed to take a turn but I took it a bit too late and a bit too fast and I smashed into a ditch and crumpled the car! It was a pretty bad wreck, but thankfully we were okay!

That's awful!
My sister did also by accident backed up her car and her daughter's foot was hurt.
When this kind of accident happens one feels very bad.
I remember my sister, she almost got a nervous break down.
My niece is ok now and was not affected by the accident. Thank God for that.
Well for one it is not something that we can laugh at.

I am so sorry for your sister and know how she must have felt. People react differently to stress and terrible htings that may happen - I laugh even though at the time I may not think that itis funny - it is a nervous reaction

I ran into a curb and hit a tree with all the neighbors watching. Then my husband decided that he would no longer teach me to drive. I had to go to a driving school. That cost a bit and then I only knew the basic and we could only afford one car. So I do not drive. I would have been upset if I ran and hit someone, not even a relative, but a little kid. I mean I would have been too much in tears to laugh.
You know you could have killed your husband. That is not funny.

I think that al you neded was more time to practise and then you diod not get the chance to drive. Husbands should never tach their wives to drive. No - he wasn;'t a little kid but they were both at fault not just my friend. I think that I la=ugh because I do not know what else. I'm so glad that my husband wasn't badly hurt- honest. Thanks for sharing

That is horrible. I am glad that she is okay and so is her son. Can you imagine how awful that would be to hit your child and kill them? I haven't ever hit a family member and hope that I never do. I am glad that your husband is okay too.

Neither of them were hurt. The road is winding and they hit going around a corner so neither were speeding. The incident with my husband happened many years ago and yes he was o.k. I am a widow now. Thank you for responding

Ive never ran into anyone while driving. I had a guy on a bike crash into me while I was waiting at a stop light before. I was getting ready to turn and he ran into the side of my car. He just rode off without even saying anything or giving me time to see if he was ok. He didnt do anything to my car so I didnt really care.
But this girl that lives across the parking lot from us was chasing her bf around the parking lot trying to purposly hit him with the car. Shes a little on the psycho side.

Now that is psychotic behaviour. Chasing him to knock him down? At least I was in reverse and didn't mean to do it

No, I haven't wrecked into any family members. When I was 16 I pulled up to the gas pumps and went alittle too far and drove up on the cement mounds they had the pumps on. I still hear about it today 18 years later!!! :)
I am glad they are OK and your husband also, it could have been far worse. We hear alot about people backing up and running over their children and I feel so sorry for those families because I could just imagine if I ran over my child, I would be devasted and probably put into a looney bin.
I know at the time it wasn't funny, but they do make for good conversation now don't they :)

oh, forgot to tell you.....My brother (16) had a rear-ender. This happen in the school parking lot while they were leaving from school, he stopped at the stop sign and a girl rear ended him, they got out and looked at the damage he got her phone number and they went out that weekend!!! wat a way to get a date huh.....hahahha
Not even a week later he was rear ended again that led to a four car rearending session. Luckily this wasn't his fault, all the other kids were speeding and not paying attention.
I asked him if he had a nice "a**" :))

YOu are so funny. Thak you for responding to my post. I have often ended up on the cement mounds and I have lost count of the times that I started to pull away from the gas pumps and the hose was still in the tank!

Oh {{cynthiann}}: Wow!! Nope I've never hit a family member or anyone while behind the wheel, But I did back into one of my tree's when I lived out in the country;
When I take my strongest pain killer, Darvocet which is along with lots of other meds throughout the day, it just makes me "dingy", I have slower reflexes and so on;
well one afternoon my niece wanted to come follow her somewhere I forget where now
but anyway I told her I had taken my Darvocet and I didn't like to drive after I had taken it, and well after backing into my tree, that is one reason why..LOL!!
I do have to ask, after hitting your husband like that are you two still together??
if so , Man he must be a loving man huh?? LOL!!

I am a widow now but when the chilkdren and I get together and reminisce - somehow this incident always is mentioned. He was cross for a while but o.k. He was a gentleman. I am sorry that you have to take pain killers. I am going to pray for you. Blessings
