The Flying Spaghetti Monster

I notice that some atheists (like Richard Dawkins, Michael Shermer, Christopher Hitchens, etc. - most of them are evolutionists) fondly use this concept of The Flying Spaghetti Monster in order to present to the public that the belief in God is just a fallacy.
Although I respect their "trip", I still don't get it!
If they believe in Evolution, I think they should or somehow consider the possibility of the existence of the flying spaghetti monster.
Why?
Because if the transition between dinosaurs and birds really did occurred (basing on the theory), then the possibility of jellyfishes, octopuses, or perhaps crabs, evolving to the form of the flying spaghetti monster may occur as well.
I mean, who knows!?!
No one can control the process of natural selection right!?!
Do you think this intriguing possibility got some potential?

I think its facinating that they would use creatures that we have only a vapor of to prove their point, much like their belief that God does not exist because we can't see him. We are all evolving, so are they, they are getting older (but not wiser) as well. They want to target kids with their brand of atheism, children are taught this stuff, why not make something up they can believe in over God.

I am not familiar with the concept of the flying spaghetti monster, but my husband will attest that the creeping crawling live spaghetti monster exists. As a young child he got up for a drink of water in the night. Someone had spilled some spaghetti pasta in the sink and to his eyes it writhed and crawled. To this day he does not eat pasta. I just had to throw that in to your discussion.

Probably an hallucination caused by ingesting too much sugar and watching too much TV.

Now this was a cool post. I can't wait to read what others say.
I say why not.... big lizard folks learning to fly and are now sweet little singers in the morning sun.... squiggly gooey jelly fish (ick) turning into a flying spaghetti like monster.. why not?
Not sure I'd cover it is sauce and enjoy but hey.... that's just me.

In addition to that, the talking snake in the Garden of Eden can also be possible. I mean, if we, humans, evolved from an ape, and now that we are talking, what more can be the possibility of a snake, speaking any kind of language.
I personally think this isn't a crazy idea. I believe it's a valid scientific viewpoint.

I believe in God, myself. Belief in God is not a fallacy. The Flying Spaghetti Monster sounds kind of crazy to me. I don't respect their trip at all. It sounds more like a cartoon to me.
I have been told that dinosaurs once eixted, though. Kathy.

If someone were to really investigate gow a cell works and what is really involved in cellular reproduction then I do not see how anyone could even thikn of themselves as an athiest. The cellular chemistry and mechanics of the cell is much too complicated to have occured naturally. (Remember, there had to be the first cell!)

Yeah, I was enlightened by the "Intelligent Design" documentary of Ben Stein about the complexity of cell. Even Richard Dawkins thought that the possibility of a designer may be portrayed through the cell. But of course, he never said that the designer was God. I think he said something like a civilization evolved somewhere in the universe that may have designed our way of life.

I am convinced that H P Lovecraft was God's True Son, rather than the other guy.

I think your missing the whole point of this Flying Spaghetti Monster. This "being" is said to really just enact all of God's roles. These people use him to show how fairly easy it is to create an idea, and how many people can find it to be ridiculous (or not) depending on how it feels to them. If you ask a lot of people how they feel about God, they may bring up their religion and personal feelings about how great God is and how they feel about him. But, if you bring up the Flying Spaghetti Monster, these same individuals would likely look at you in stupidity. How could you believe in such a thing? The reality is that "God" and the "Flying Spaghetti Monster" are one in the same, just one is more acceptable.
I think that is the whole basis for it's creation.

I am not sure aobut this, I have never heard their auguments before. I think it could be a possibilty that it could be true. I have no problem with the theory of evloution. However a belif in the God is simply a matter of fath and not science. Scince should be seprated from religion becase they are two seprate fields of study with there own pricapals.

While I don't really believe that there has to be a separation between creation and evolution, I do not myself believe that the flying spaghetti monster will ever let me down. Sure God could have used evolution to create life over millions of years, but who created the spaghetti? I think we know the answer to this one. We all know it deep down in our hearts. BTW I'm a scientist and believe wholly in evolution, I'm also an agnostic. I am a serious believer that there is a god out there. I just don't think it has any real interest in us. Intervention would take away from what most religions on the planet say god gifted us with, " free will ". I do however have the will to cover my pasta in tomato sauce and peppers and lots and lots of cheese. excellent post. everyone should look up "flying spaghetti monster" on the following link www.craftster.com I've seen it and these people have too.

Any pastafarian who heard atheists talking about the flying spaghetti monster in such a manner would call that blasphemy. xD
*likes Pastafarians as much as Discordians, because it's difficult to tell if they're for real or just playing, if that's not an insulting thing to say*
I always liked their idea for how the world came about though. In fact, I hope they're right and the rest of us are wrong...just for the irony.xD

The irony bit? Well, just that the whole creation, "how the world/universe came to be" thing is often so hotly contested...and if it turned out that we were all wrong and it was a flying spaghetti monster who waved "a noodly appendage" (as the pastafarians say) and made everything that way, it'd be a bit ironic.
I mean no insult to those who believe in the flying spaghetti monster, but it'd be enough to make alot of people arguing to stop a moment, and chuckle. It's just that much of a nonsequieter.

Just a small point, there is a theory that birds are dinosaurs, the dinos did not all die out. There a lots of similarities between the birds and dinos such as a crop to grind their food and other anatomical similarities, and I believe fossil records that show the evolution of birds from dinosaurs.
Using the bible for science does not make any more sense than using it for medicine and health. People were incredibly ignorant about things we take for granted today in these areas.

Rubbish. Anyone keeping current on current theory knows that the similarity of ancient dinosaurs is so great as not to be ignored.

I agree you cannot believe everything you read on the internet is not the truth, however I think if you read anything about the origin of birds you can see they long ago diverged from any other present day mammal or amphibian.

To each his own, I believe in God and I believe in science, though they do not really mix, it's in the believer's mind, I just don't bother myself about it, lots of more important things to do.

Hmmm? Like all truth the real answer is more complicated. God has the sum of all knowledge. His IQ is really up there. With such knowledge of the complex, God creates the universe with a bang. If you were that smart, you would want the system to be automated.God creates the universe to unfold into what we have today. Evolution does fit into this. There are no flying spaghetti monsters because that was not in the design.

I don't think religion go against science. There is no use always arguing and arguing without knowing the exact truth--whether the god exists. Religion is faith for every follower of a religion, which give out power and courage. The belief in God isn't just a fallacy. People have no right to destroy the faith of others. And they surely will not succeed, whether they adhere to the science or not.
