Camping can have several advantages... it is cheap to do compared to staying in a guest house or hotel. It can be close to nature and is the best thing to do when travelling into the wilderness - to get away from civilisation. And is about the best way to experience a music festival - large (Glastonbury) to small (Buddhafields)! Can be a bit tricky is one has back problems; you can tend to feel a bit stiff in the mornings - nothing to it but to get up and move about!!! But it is possible to take an air mattress and/ or blankets, epecially if travelling to the camp site by car! It also tends to be easier to get to know new people, as everyone is living so closely together; though it may not be so good if the couple in the next tent are having the argument from HELL!!!
So, tell me YOUR experiences

I really love to go camping and my best experience was staying in my small and lightweight tent every night along the Able Tasman walk in New Zealand. One of the nights I tent up my tent at a site for a maximum of five tents. It was lovely an quiet with superb views over a sandy bay. Further along the route I had to set my tent up very quickly because the sand flies were biting. It was high tide and I knew I had to wait until the morning to cross the tidal river when it would be low tide. Three German guys were impatient and made a raft for their backpacks then they swam across. Arriving at the end of the route was a party like atmosphere with music. Straight after that I did a more demanding walk called the Queen Charlotte walk. day three was a nine hour walk over a narrow ridge way. My tent at the end of that demanding day was perfect. I have a bigger tent that I use now and I went camping at a rural camp site in Devon last summer. I have a mat that I bought in New Zealand that is light weight and ever so comfortable. I have two sleeping bags, one cool and the other warm.

I love to go camping. That is what my family look s forward to in the summer time. We just take our tents and like to camp in the wilderness. We feel that camper type camp ground are not serene enough...they are too packed and when we go we went to relax and have some peace and quiet.
We just went last year and bought a bigger tent that way we could get an air mattress and not feel so stiff and sore in the mornings. We never really had any real pains from sleeping on the ground because we had thicker blankets but then one time we went with some friends of ours and the kids all wanted to sleep in the same tent so we got stuck in one of the girls tent and she had an air mattress and Oh my lord was it nice...so we decided right there that we were going to go buy an air mattress and sleep in a bit more comfort :)
We would like to try and camp in a cabin sometime we have just never took that step to renting one for the weekend..every year we try to camp more and more but it always seems to be less and less.

Yeah, wilderness camping can be real fun - being so distant from civilisation, an' all that! Thanks

Going camping to me means a tent and a sleeping bag in the wilderness, the fewer people the better. I enjoyed this as a small child and also when my ;children were small. As Grandma I have not done this for many years and am not sure I wouldn't be better off with many fond memories.

I absoluetly LOVE camping. It's always a great experience when I go with my bf and our 2 kids. We love to go on nature hikes and see all the different and interesting things we can see. We also like to camp at places that have fishing within 10kms. I went with some friends before however and they really ruined the trip, but on the other hand another group of friends we chose a different time turned out to make the camping very fun! I find I would rather go with another friend and their family so that we all have someone to talk to besides each other. The kids also enjoy being out in the middle of nowhere and being able to run around with other kids to whatever time because no rules apply really when camping!

Thank you! Not sure I would like to be a fish within 10kms though! Some scientific studies have shown that they actually feel pain! Wonder how your friends ruined the trip? I suppose we all find people who can be particularly irritating or inconsiderate! Cheers for responding!!!

I love camping. My grandma and I used to go every weekend. We lived in the mountains and the camp site was across the street lol but it was still fun to make a fire and roast marshmallows. We always went to the same spot, right on the river. I haven't been camping in a few years now, but I would love to.

i like to go camping but i find that my health is not that great to go. i remember when i was younger and went camping with a bunch of friends (note to self - NEVER go camping on a holiday weekend!) anyways, these guys were partying and yelling and screaming all night.

I wouldn't say that I LOVE camping but I don't hate it either. I have been to several camping trips and I like it. I like hiking, cooking outside, staying near nature and all those things. The part that I don't really like- take note: NOT HATE, is sleeping on the ground that is so hard or that is so uncomfortable. Although I could endure it because I want to be experience nature once in a while.

I love to go camping. We are doing this every year. I tis fun.. I have no problem with sleeping on the ground. I just put grasses under my tent as cushion, then sleep inside the sleeping bag? it is fine.. I can sleep well. But honestly, during the first night, I can't sleep really well for I am adjusting to the environment. But I love camping.

Camping is not for me. I need a high bed since I had back surgery 12 years ago. And I also like a private bathroom. Even when I was young, I had problems with the public bathrooms at campings. So now I´m old it´s a no-no.

I used to love to go camping. When I was a kid, we would go every summer at least once, sometimes for 1-2 weeks at a time. After I got married, my husband and I would go several weekends a year, it was something we looked forward to so much.
I havent gone in well over 15 years now, not sure I would still like it as much. lol

I love getting away from your every day enviroment and spending it campiong. Whether it be a tent or rv, I enjoy them both. I really enjoy the tents, because it gives you the sense of true camping. Roughing it through the weather, the hard ground, not having any tv or anything to distract you from the main purpose you are there for...Quality time with family. My family and I try to get together as often as possible to go camping and we always try to go to different places each year so we can exerpience different camping exeriences.
