I know its kind of silly but to me pets are so much like our loved ones and friends who had become part of our lives so that when the time comes for them to leave, it can give us a sense of sadness and loss to our hearts. I loved every pet that I ever had and I try to remember them once in a while. I even had a list of the names of my past pets together with the date when they came into my life and how many years they've been with me. I also keep some photos of them and I have been doing this since childhood ay age 10. My most unforgettable pet was Froktoy, the most intelligent dog that I ever had who had been with us for 15 years and a silver Arowana fish whom we fondly called Aro, who have grown so big from a mere 2 inches to 15 inches in 2 years. How bout you? Do you still remember your past pets? In what way do you try to remember them?

I remember my past pets fondly. My very first pet was a gold fish, when I was in the first or second grade. Then when I got into the sixth grade, my dad bought my brothers and me some cats. And when I was in high school, on an aunt and uncle from my father's side of the family, gave our family a beautiful parrot. We named him Mr. Alex. I often turned on the radio or put on some cassettes to play music while I helped my mother clean the house. Mr. Alex always liked singing along with the songs. In addition to speaking English, he learned to speak Greek from my family. I also taught him to speak some Spanish.

Each of mine were special and I remember most of them. My first dog was named Patrick since he was born on St. Patrick's day. My first cat was named Silla because we thought it was a girl when it turned out to be a boy he was called Silla Sir He was a beautiful gray tabby.

I don't remember the fish I've had apart from one very special plecostomus who we had for many years, and a goldfish my daughter won at the fair, that is no longer my pet but belongs to a friend in another part of the country. He's 28 years old and 12 inches long and lives in a large pond with some Koi Carp.
All the others I remember. Even Silver my little grey mouse! It's usually when people ask about keeping certain animals that I remember them, though in the case of cats and dogs it's often when one of my current animals does something I'm reminded of the ones who have passed away. I also have photos of many of them!
I grieve for them all when they leave but feel privelidged to have shared my life with them.
I've had 58 years worth of pets and can't remember a time when there wasn't a pet or three in the house!

For most of my pets I don't really worry about trying to remember them and what not except for one of my past dogs. I think it was different for him due to the fact he was what I ran to whenever I was upset. I always felt that a dog would always love you and by licking you in the fact while you were crying could make everything better. I was actually out of school for a few days when he passed away and this was in high school and everyone completely understood why it happened. He was my baby and thats exactly how I treated him. Plus, he was the first pet that I honestly felt was a companion because to me things like fish, birds, etc. really aren't companions. I don't even see cats too much as companions because they are more isolated creatures. When even got him buried in a pet cemetery because my mom worked there and we were able to get it done for free.
Now I have a dog right now and she is about 4 years old and I've already decided when she passes away I'm getting her cremated and buried with me. She is my child and thats how I will constantly look at her because I don't want kids, I would rather have 1 or 2 dogs. That is enough for me.

That is really touching and I do agree with you about dogs as such good companions. They seem more like human in terms of intelligence and the way they can comfort us. My past dog use to sit by my side and lick my face dry when I cry too.

I loved pets too and had many of them that was gone and left good memories with me and my wife and children. Every time I have a chance, i usually own a pet most of them are dogs, cats , dove , love birds ,rabbit and fish.
I had a dog named black jack, as a small puppy i trained her with a lot of tricks like be on watch like a military cadet, he learned to hand shake with visitors, but since he is not any breed dog, he is stubborn to do what he is commanded, we love her so much that we treat her like a brother. We have our cat, I never teach him anything but everytime i come home he knows what to do, he massage my back, my head and its really soothing nice feeling, the queer thing is ,it is only me he does that. My wife was really amaze of his action, and later on i teach him some tricks and he immidiately followed.
Then my dove was acquired during our marriage, the dog, the cat and the dove have the same attitude, as i come home from work, this dove will find his space on my shoulder from his tree house like greeting me. I feel like forgetting all the heavy load works in the office as they try to tickle me and be given a pat.
Yeah, the worst time is when they passes away, their memories are irreplaceable.

I have had an extensive amount of pets that have come into my life. I do try to remember all of them. They all become a part of the family, you can never forget the members of your family. We have had 3 dogs pass on and one that ran away. We also had a litter of puppies in which we had to find homes for. We also rescued 13 puppies from a man that tried to kill them. I can remember that we had all of these but some were closer than others. It is still hard to think that they are gone.

My pets were always like my children. My best friends. I am a cat person and two of my beloved babies are gone now, but they filled my life with such happiness and love. I now have Boots, who is almost 5 and a very typical male cat! My babies I lost were cremated and I have them at home with me. They are waiting for me to join them someday. And I will do the same with Boots also. I am looking to adopt another kitty one of these days soon I hope.

Good Afternoon misschivy,
I will always, always remeber my lost little ones. They have touched my soul in ways few people can or have-as strange as that sounds.
For those that I have lost over the years I wear a special necklace. It is with me always and I feel that special bond even to this today when I touch the stone in it.
Be well and happy;}

Hello everyone!!
I love my pets and used to love so much the other pets that I had. Years ago I used to have many pets not like now. I remember them in my memories or from the photos which I took them. I had a particular dog which we adopted from a sanctuary which was really amazing and cute. I was so young when we adopted her. she was just a happy. She has been with us for 10years. You can imagine, I was small too and I missed her since I feel that I sort of grew up with her since both me and her were so young. Unfortunately shes not with us anymore but she still has a big place in my heart.
