Take nothing for granted. Someone may tell you that you descend from Henry the Eighth, but don't believe it until you have proved it yourself. Good Luck with your research.

Yes, I have been doing so for several years. I've had a fairly decent amount of success, with some lines having been traced back to the 1300's. It can be time consuming and require a lot of work, but if it is something you are really in to, it's definitely worth the effort.

For some country like US maybe you can easily do that cause you have a very details databased from the census board but in my country we don't have that huge databased yet and further more like my cases I do connect to china on family history so its really take time cause we can only manually trace it.
