I am so miserable, I am use to going, It has been working pretty good except my radiator was going bad, but I think something else is wrong, I am going to take it to the Shop tommorrow, I was driving on the highway, and all of a sudden it started getting slow. And finally it stop, I could feel that something was wrong, the temperture gauge didn'yt get hot? So maybe its something else, I hope it isn't the Motoer, I tell you if its not one thing it's another. I am use to getting in my car and going different places. I hate buses. And it is to dangerous out here to even catch the bus. I am glad I had Tripe A.

I am glad you got home alright and I know how we are all so connected to your cars that you feel imprisioned without one...even if you could walk places its the sense that you lose some of your freedom! Hope it's not something to major!

If you need to replace the engine, it might be cheaper just to replace the car. BUT, you can call round to the local junkyards and see if they have a motor that is compatible for your car and sometimes you can get a REALLY good deal! Also, depending on the nature of the engine problem, it is possible to rebuild the motor, but unless you have a good mechanic that you trust it may not be worth the trouble. I'm no expert, nut I AM a mechanic's wife so I've learned a few things over the years. I'll help you figure it out if I am able (translate what the mechanic says, because you know sometimes they do a "double talk" thing LOL).
Did you know that if you find out exactly what part you need for your year and model of car you can simply plug that information into the search engine at eBay motors and sometimes find it REALLY cheap?

Hi Marcia, sorry to hear about the car trouble, I know how frustrating that can be! I am lucky in this respect because I married a mechanic. LOL
I don't live in a place that is accessible to mass transit, but even when I did I hated the bus. When you are used to driving everywhere, having your car not working properly can drive you crazy. For me the car is my independence, my ability to go out and get something if I need it among other things. I hope your car trouble is nothing too serious or too expensive to fix. Did they tell you what's wrong with it yet?

I have never drove, but I can certainly appreciate the freedom of being able to get in your car and just drive. I know for me, when I go some where on the bus it can take the entire day to do one thing. Some of the buses out here are dangerous to ride in some areas and some are not so bad. I do hope that I learn to drive some day. I also hope that you get your car fixed very soon.

It's scary when something starts going wrong with cars, especially when you're on the highway. I'm with you about Triple A...I wouldn't drive without it. I hope it's nothing serious with your car, hopefully a quick fix. Let us know how you make out, ok?

Yup the Motor is what he says, I know that when I got the car towed to him, now I have to pay 80.00 for something I already knew about.

I think that is what it is, but the MECHANIC SAID it wasn't getting any pressure from the Motor. Some one else mentioned timing belt. They told me I need another motor, was it expensive?

So how old is the car? I guess if you traded it in, you would not get much for it and from what you say, you need a car. I heard that when cars go, they go all at once, so maybe you can find a good second hand one especially if the repairs cost more then the car is worth.

It is an Old Car, but It runs good wen it runs, I have had it almost 3 years nw. I am going to get it towed to a machanic. they will put it on a Machine. I have an Hyndai Elantra, it is a foreign Car. Those Car will get up to 300,00 miles or more, I only have 159,000 miles on it.

Hopefully you were out of gas and your gauge is busted or maybe you just blew a fuse.
You are lucky, you have mass transit. What they call mass transit where I live would involve a 10 mile walk after I got off of the bus to where I have to go and long waits. Plus it stops running by 10 PM I think

I am glad you are alright, marcia, having your vehicle break down or running out of gas are some of the most miserable feelings I have ever experienced. The first week I had my drivers license I had two flat tires. I ran out of gas driving my ex-husband's car; some strange person tried to give me a ride, which scared me more than being stranded. You are so right about AAA, it has been a saving grace for me many a day. There is nothing as good as being prepared with a solid backup plan. Kudos to you, marciascott!

ONe time I was on the interstate going through a tunnel when my car over heated. I barely made it out of the tunnel to the exit. It shut off on the exit ramp. So embarrassing. Turns out my belt came off or something like that.

Hi there maria.... I was just talking with my boyfriend and he game me some options for you. He asked me first if your battery light came on.... If so it could be your alternator. If not then he said maybe it could be your fuel pump. Those are just a couple thngs he mentioned.
