Cereal and Fruit

Do you like to add fresh fruits or maybe dried fruits to your cold cereal? I remember as a child my cornflakes were often served with banana slices on them... and I enjoyed it very much this way. These days I often find in the stores that the cold cereals have included dried fruits such as strawberries or peaches in them. Do you like to add fruit to your cereal? What kind of fruit and on what types of cereal?

I love to add banana to plain cereals like corn flakes or rice bubbles. I mostly eat fruity type cereals though and I love to add fruit or other flavoured yogurt to them, then milk and mix it all together...so yummy.

for several months, during a highrisk pregnancy, my daily breakfast was a cup of plain yogurt with a handful of cheerios thrown in. I liked to slice a little fruit on top and mix it up.

No, not really. Other than raisins (in Raisin Bran) I'd rather pass on having any kind of fruit, whether it is dried or fresh, in my cereal. For some reason I just don't like it in my cereal.

When I was a child those cereal commercials made me jealous. I mean my mom didn't add fruit to my cereal! (the attitude of a spoiled twerp) So I never did add fruit to my cereal. And like you said, now they have dried fruit in the cereal, so there is that. But I still prefer real, fresh fruit in my cereal. I buy fruit, the issue is that I quit buying cereal.

cereal has become ridiculously overpriced as all grains have, really. I too go for the fruit these days.

I tend to buy and eat the cereals that already have freeze dried fruit in them, usually the ones with strawberries in them! I don't really add dried/fresh fruit to my cereal, take this morning for example i had a small bowl of cereal then i ate a banana seperately afterwards when i could eaisly have chopped the banana up and had it with the cereal. I guess i just never thought to do it that way.

my son is a big fan these days of the dried fruit cereals - especially dried strawberries, like yourself. he also likes when there are bits of yogurt in with the fruit.

I try and add fruit into my diet wherever possible so when i have cereal i always add some raisons, bananas or raspberries to it. I try and be as healthy as i possibly can and adding fruit to things helps with that.

that is an easy and tasty way of getting those extra servings of fruit in each day.

I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast. I like to put apples chunks in it and then add raisins or frozen blueberries, raspberries, blackberry blend...just a handfull so I have a variety of fruit. Makes the breakfast last a while.

Generally no to cold cereals. If the milk is hot, then fruits seem tasty if i add them. with cold one i do not add fruits.

I am trying to get my little one interested in eating fruits with her cereals - I will have to see if she will try it on hot cereal - maybe she is like you and is not interested in fruit with her cold cereal, but will like it in hot.

I like berries in my cereal....either strawberries or bluberries...I am not much of a banana fan and I do like it to be fresh fruit too.

I no longer care much for bananas - I will occassionaly eat the tip of one I serve my little girl and that is enough. But, I sure liked them as a young child. I also no longer eat milk in cereal.

sometimes I will add dried fruit but it just depends on what cereal I am eating.

My husband likes cereals and I he often has it. You gave me a good idea to add dry fruits to it. I don't know how will it be to add fresh fruit to it. How did banana slices taste with cereal? What are the other furuits than can be added? Thanks for your valuable response to my discussion.
