So do you avoid discussions that are "the other gender" type topics Men, do you avoid discussions about breastfeeding, "the curse" and the like? Ladies, do you avoid discussions heavily laces with testosterone? Or do you stroll right on in and boldly go where most people of your gender do not dare to tread?

Eh! Me being male, single and unmarried and of course with no child, limits my choice of discussion.
So, I can't participate on such discussion which involves anyone of I described above.
Well, I can't respond on discussion which is asking me about santitory napkin or what is the best way to feed a child or soemthing like that, can I?
I would be a fool if I try to do that!

Uh,, I don't think ANYO|NE really wants to discuss a sanitary napkin, but your point is well taken.
You may be male, single, unmarried and childless, but you ain't dumb! lol
Oh, I'm pretty sure about this, but the best way to feed a child is by mouth. lol

If I can add my two bits then I walk in. Honestly there are some of my own gender discussions that I duck and run from. Girls can be harsh.
Most of the genders can learn something by at least reading the thoughts of the other gender.
Like someone was asking guys if they thought size was really an issue (theirs not ours) and many ladies answered and set the fellas right.

Not really, no. It all comes down to whether I have anything of any interest to add or not. Oh, having something silly to add is just as good a reason for me to venture on in also! I'm in touch with my feminine side Dawn. I'll even talk about bra's if ya want! lol. (Or as I like to call them "over the shoulder boulder holders")

I guess I never thought about it before. I usually avoid discussions about subjects I don't know much about. I guess that could be gender specific. I don't know much about European football, which we call soccer, but sometimes I will read the discussions just to see what is being said about it.

I dont close a discussion if it is about "the other gender". I might read it as I would read any other discussion I find interesting. If I have an opinion and if it could give another perspective, I do give it. Sometimes I just read the posts and move on. Sometimes if it is interesting, I let my wife read it and type in her views on the subject.

Now there's a thought, I guess I could give my husband an opportunity to respond to some that I think he'd know something about when I'm clueless.

I head straight on in if i think i know something about the topic .. most that i've seen, (i think, as much as i can recall) who start discussions gender based, usually have a question for each gender even if they really only one an answer from one side, they dont wanna leave the other gender out so they include them..
Did you have a discussion in mind ? lol

I guess for me it depends on the topic, but mostly I try to stay out of topics that depict on men.

oh come on, you know you wanted to say "boldly go where no woman has gone before!" lol. The way I see it, If I can respond to it, I will. Now if it says "men, blah blah blah" I might keep away or I might just say, I'm not a man but I hope you don't mind me responding... Nothing gets to me more then a person who's the opposite gender responding to a discussion of mine directed at one gender, and then doesn't even read the discussion so he or she responds to it wrong... lol, sorry about that little rant.

Doesn't matter whether it's pointed at one gender or not, it annoys me when it's obvious from the response that somebody didn't even read the discussion.

Hi ya dawny
I usually respond to whatever discussion I feel like responding to at the time. I must admit though I have avoided some discussions because they have been very sexist and derogortory about women and I can't be bothered to get into an argument with someone about it especially if it is clearly a cultural thing! Been there and done that in the real world!! There have also been some discussions some women have started about men that avoid because they just seem to be whining!! LOL

If it's sexist and derogatory I can just see myself getting into a firefight. Best to stay away from them...

For me to participate in a discussion it only needs to be interesting to me, I avoid to participate with no interest. Gender never has been an obstacle in my mind, could be for the fact that I grow up with two older brothers that respect me, and I was teach to respect them.

I tend to avoid discussions I can't really relate to period no matter what gender. For instance I come across a lot of "female" ones about terrible periods, hot flashes, night sweats from menopause...well can't relate to any of that even though I is a gurl...LOL. I've "forgotten" what it was like to have my periods, but they were never horrendous, and haven't had any menopausal symptoms despite my age

I'm one to stroll right on in, even if the discussion is 'heavily laced with testosterone'. lol But then again I work in a male dominated job, wildland firefighting. I was the only female with a volunteer fire dept for 9 years, and I was the only female at the forestry station I've worked at the past 3 years. So, basically, I am just one of the guys.

I"m willing to talk about whatever, so if I have experience with something, an interest in it, I'll likely dive right in. I have not usually had to explain anything flat out like 'I'm a woman' because people can figure it out by what I say or how I say it. Also, my user name includes the word 'mommy' and what GUY is going to choose a user name with a woman's title? LOL! If I were to do that, I guess it would say daddyboo.
