Fairies!!

I am in the very fortunate position of receiving regular graphic greetings from my online friends. Many of these take the form of fairies in various settings. In every case, the fairies are semi-clad young ladies. Some border on the risque. I have no objection to these at all - but from my admittedly limited knowledge of fairy folk, I don't recall them all looking like they've just emerged from a pole dancing bar! As most of the ones that I receive are from women, I wonder whether there might be a market for more "authentically" dressed versions?

I don't think so. Try looking at Brian Frouds fairies in his book, "Fairies". It seem to set the standard on what fairies look like for each of its kind.

My favorite Fairy type is a wood fairy. They tend to be dressed in leaves and bark. They are still slender and light but hardly ever show more then a thigh or a belly button.
They are not risque but are lovely in a quiet way.
There is a market for such things...

I'm with you, TL. I love the wood nymphs. And p1key, I just got a new fairie for my garden. She's a child fairy, and dressed like a child fairy would be. But someone painted her black of all things so I had to paint her white, as she should be. She looks beautiful in my yard. I just love her!

Yeah, I always wondered about those pole dancing fairies.*L* I much prefer the more traditionally clothed ones, myself. Just doesn't seem right, dressing the in sexy stuff, somehow.

Hi there p1kefsh
Hmm it might have something to do the way world seems to going at the moment. More and more things are acceptable these days that certainly weren't say 20 years ago. Look at pop groups these days, how little they wear and how provocative their videos are. I don't know - the youth of today!! LOL

You won't be saying that in a few years time when they are admiring the lack of skirt on their female school friends! A friend of mine used to describe my daughter's school as the "Skirts optional" school as any mystique regarding female nether region foundation garments was removed altogether by the brevity of their skirts! I.e. They showed their knickers!

hmmmm now you got me thinking...I design graphics and I think you have a very good point because I struggle to find appropriate graphics to post, so I mainly don't use them but do on occasions, perhaps I should design some that are more truer to the image we have of fairy folk.

I agree with you, some graphics are very graphical and in poor taste, I'II see what I can do. I use to have my own glitter site I may do another one but with some tasteful graphics on.

I just 'found' this one from Glitter Graphics.
I have found a lot of fairy graphics and pictures, they do all seem to be scantily clad ladies, I'll keep my eye out for any I find that are actually dressed properly.

I think the reason for this is the woody detritus claded maidens are often associated with little girls and in the effort to bring fairies to a much older audience they try to "adultize" the fairy.
I don't know if people still believe in them, but I still do "call me crazy but I see them" Fey's are sensual already as they are without adding the sexy to the mystic. But then again there are two types or rather three main types which people are not aware of. Sprytes that live deep in forests and don't mingle with humans tend to wear the earthy schemed clothes, they are the ones who wear skimpy often stap on leaves or vines to themselves as clothes or for those who have no contact with humans at all, stay naked! While the trooping fairies due to thousands of years living in human gardens and small woodlands near human settlement tend to imitate human clothes. Fortunately they haven't moved into the 20th century yet when it comes to fashion...so no leather here for them...they have stayed to more of 1800's fashion now a days and hopefully wont progress up to the fashion of the 80's LOL.
Bottom line I dont like fairies being so humanized they loose their essence as a being of nature:)

I believe the faries in Tinkerbell movie were kind of hoochie dressed too. But really cute way the outfits were suited to their jobs. Rose petals, leaves, etc.

So actually they have always done this coz Betty Boop was way before my time. I think they just do it on a bigger scale now. Even cheribs are bearely dressed. Like cupid.
But if you keep getting turned on by these faries i would start to worry about that. LoL!!!

I have no idea but I love fairies of all kinds. I tend to be drawn more towards the risque ones. I don't know why. Maybe they are just prettier or something. I'll have to remember to take pictures of my fairies and send them to you. They're so beautiful.

I have no clue what they are "supposed" to look like. Sorry, I'm no help.

Hi P1key!! You know what I have found about those old fashioned Fairies? I have it on Very Good Authority that they are Much more whimsical than the modern day Fairies...It's true!!
They have much more imagination then the younger Fairies and they Only Show Up to people that really want to see them very badly and are actively searching for them! And they can show up Anywhere, Anytime, because they are great teases!!
So if I were you, I would close my eyes very tightly and let the Fairie Gods/Goddesses Know just how much you wish to find them and I will bet you in No Time At All...you will find some!!!
Happy Fairie Searching P1key! I just Know they will come to you 'cause you are the Best!!!

I have always like fairies. They are so elegant and fragile looking. I guess maybe some do have a little skimpiness to their clothing but then that is maybe how the artist liked to see them maybe he/she was thinking of the dancers when they were drawing them. I have no problem with the outfits as long as they aren't naked I am fine..but I guess just like we have good and bad girls, they will have the bad and good girls of fairies..

Victorian fairies?
Muslim fairies?
Goth fairies?
Perhaps there's a market for ethnic costume fairies?
All's fairy in love and war?
Dawn needs sleep...

I like fairies...but i prefer them more clothed then not. I am actually looking for graphics of a fairy(fully dressed of course) with like brown wings and brown clothing for this idea for a tattoo i want.

I have noticed that as I got older, fairies started losing more and more clothes. It is not so much that I mind, it is strange that I have not seen any in awhile that had the bright, colourful mystical theme going on, with out the cleavage. Maybe to a fairy, there is no sexuality to it, but perhaps adding the clothing insinuates some sexuality as well. Some of it looks nearly impossible to fly in...

LOL..Without stating the obvious I am a lover of faeries...and have sent and used countless graphics to my friends not all faeries wear long flowing dresses which are impractical for a faery who flies,lol.... but there are many types of faeries out there and I have noticed they are really tarting them up these days but there are more accurately portrayed faery pics still out out there I tend to use the sexier ones for my guy friends though...hehehe!xx

Yes it's just harmless eye candy,it was a good question though..me personally I don't see anything wrong with sexy faeries myself there is no harm in that I don't think a gothic faery will be wearing a flowing pink earthy dress and flowers in her hair..just saying and faeries serve different purposes that is open for interpretationlolAwww..your to sweet a person to be forgotten:)x
