Parents second child is more free spirited and naughty than their first child. The researchers of Pennsylvania State University,University of Howie and Purdue University
studied the chronology of birth of children and found that this chronology plays an important role at the growth of child's personality. The researchers took interview of 364 boys and girls from 7 years to 19 years old and their parents and reached this conclusion. The scientists found that the first child of a family generally is gentle and obedient to parents. But the second child is far more free spirited and naughty.
Recently the report of this research published in the Child Development Journal.

I have read up a lot on birth order and have found out that the rule is not always true. It is more general but there are plenty of exceptions, including my own two children. My son, the older, was more naughty and less obedient, where my daughter, two years younger was more compliant with rules.

There's no doubt about it. At least in my case. My first child was always able to play on her own and still does. My second child has to get into everything, and it doesn't matter what it is either. He'll trash the house faster than I can pick it up. I'm glad that he is inquisitive and is eager to learn new things all the time. While doing so he gets into his fair share of trouble. I wouldn't necessarily classify him as naughty, but he is certainly far less gentle than his older sister.
