I do alow mine to go on the internet. They have there own accounts on my computer with parental controls and timer set up on them. This way I can control the content they see and also avoids fights abought who was one longer lol.

I allow mine as well. My computer is in the living room and I can reach it from the couch so I can definelty see everything they are doing. I knew you could set up different accounts but had absolutely no idea you could set a timer to it. Does it just log them off after or shut down the whole pc? That is definetly something interesting as I have a huge harddrive and I would rather they not mess up all my junk on here.

My kids are using the internet from the time they learnt to use the computer. I have only explained to them about what sites they should visit and what they should not. Since they do not have a regular access to the computer there is no problem just now.

My grand kids, at least the older two, use the internet. I do not think it is wise with the girl, she likes to pretend she is older than she is. I understand why people do not want their kids online. My computer was always where I could see what the kids were doing when they were on the internet.

I know what you are concerned about. I allow my child to go online. I think it is too difficult to ban it. In fact internet has many advantages. When the parents are worried whether their children will misuse the internet, then they can also get this information from TV, books easily. You can see that today there are many TV programs are not so healthy for children. The most importance is to tell them what is right and wrong.
